Same as landlords buying up houses or trailer houses in your neighborhood and jacking up the prices for rent. The prices for rent in cavalier is crazy expensive compared to the living wages. Cavalier and other small town in the grain belt have to deal with h1a immigration where farmers have to provide sustainable income and a place to live. Which drives the price up for those who live here permanently. Airbnb dont even get me started on that subject

just got the letter in the mail for house being reassessed for the third year in a row. excuse is market value.. havent done a thing to it and its gone up 270,000 in those 3 years. gonna not be able to buy groceries at this rate.

So the brain surgeons at the capital can't come to an agreement on the property tax bill because some of them want residents to have skin in the game and pay at least 25% . The credit they are throwing around is about 1650. This means that your property taxes would have to be about 2200 or less for this to have an effect . Anyone over 2200 will be paying their 25% anyway. I would be willing to bet the amount of residents whose property tax bill is 2200 or less is pretty damn small.

I also see where the wonderful state saved 11 Mill , by not just giving people the 500 tax credit and making them apply, about 22000 didnt do it . They can put out those numbers so they have everyones info just give it to them for crying out loud .

Is that saving? Or is that ripping people off by deceptive sales tactics? I’d guess most rhat didnt apply were either elderly or people with health/life situations where focus was on other priorities. What’s happening right now is criminal. It’s willful negligence on part of our legislature….. Do any naysayers believe us now? We said this would happen…… it’s going to get worse……you think that 1400-1650 cut they are proposing will last? How long before our due bill eats up surpasses the amount the “cut” I’d give it 5 years and we’ll be right back here again paying the same amount….

Its sad isn't it? It reminds me of the 11% rebate at Menards. They make bank on people not sending in for it.
