Here is another one. BPS when Jim H. with activities retired they replaced him plus the schools created an activities director position at each middle and high school that are now making 6 figure income each and they keep adding administration asst but when they need to make budget cuts they cut cooks, custodians, and teacher aides because they are not contract employees

Time to get the thread back on track. Just got my property tax statement for next year. The $500 credit shows up on it, and amazingly taxes only went up 2.2%, so end up with about a $400 lower tax bill for next year.

it isn't the state's job to pay for plowing your city, township and county roads. it isn't the state's job to fund your city parks and recreation programs. it isn't the state's job to pay for your grade school. it isn't the state's job to fund your... you get the picture. nor should it be! the more local your tax need, taxing authority and tax collection, the more you have the ability to affect change in all of the above IF YOU WISH.

asking the locals to come up with another way to fund stuff is one thing. asking the state to foot the bill is absolutely asinine. how would that even work? we just put together our own township budget, send it to the state and expect them to fund whatever the hell we ask for? imagine the wishlists. you think we have spending problem now? wait and see how that pans out.

or are they going to have discretion? if they have discretion, now we are relying on some legislature from fargo to make budgeting decisions for some township of 50 people north of williston?!
Locals should have been listening to their pissed off taxpayers. There is no other way to get their attention except for cutting them off completely. Change might actually happen this time!

Exactly….. it’ll be back to where it was in 3 years tops. $500 was nothing more than an attempt to make us peasants hush for a bit

Here's an idea, how about the state use that money to fully fund all the schools and fully fund the transportation infrastructure needs of the entire state. After all it's for the kids right? It's bettering the state for our future right?
not with public education... the public education system is crap IMO, we just have low standards for what is acceptable these days.

And why did we have to apply for it ? Why not just give it to us ?
All their trying to do is take advantage of the people that either didn't know about or forgot, crooks !
they are using the menards 11% rebate tactic. Menards knows what percentage of purchases actually apply for the rebate & what % do not. Menards had gross sales of 13.4 billion in 2022. for every 1 % that doesn't apply for the 11% rebate that would equate to 14.7 million which would be an increase directly to net profit, so instead of giving the sales price up front they offer a rebate. now multiply that times the actual number that doesn't apply.

Also, for those who dont know, Menards, being the cheap asses that they are, wont accept rebates that you didnt purchase yourself. I know in the past that ive given my rebate receipts to my mom to send in with hers, or vice versa, just to save stamp and some hassle. Also Ive found rebate receipts in the parking lot that ive sent in, but I was asking a teller about that the other day and she said they check to make sure the receipt/card match the mailing address they rebate is being sent to, and if they dont match, the invalidate them. Also on the rebate form, it says you need to mail it in within a few weeks or whatever, but you actually dont, I will save all my receipts up for a 6 months to a year and send them in all at once, and they will still honor them. I wait till I have a good envelope full before I bother to send them usually.

Not sure I would go beyond the end date but glad it worked for ya. That's just another catch they have in there IMO.

Pretty sure menards is being sued over the 11% rebate thing. Thought I read it somewhere. Class action lawsuit....

Why? Someone thinks they should get more than 11%? Fuckers.

I told a guy the other day that I have been doing this wrong, worked since I was 16 and been at my employer 35 years, wife has been at her employer for 44 years, everything we have is paid for, 0 assistance from anyone.

People that get a ton of assistance from government programs have better things than we have but have worked way less 😡

I would maybe be ok with the state picking up the bulk of the tab for 1 thing. Like education maybe as that seems like it could be formula based. $x per student or some shit. I don't know. $x per mile of roadway? Same issue arises though. Why must willy town pay for bowmans kids for example? Some creativity is in line. But, Completely eliminating property tax seems extreme.

I don't remember exactly, something about being deceptive with sales items and not disclosing items not covered under the 11% if I remember correctly.

i agree there is too much money in the bank in ND. but, again.... that's the state and not the counties. and they should figure out a way to give some back . maybe just cut everyone one a check for x amount of dollars. issue there is its highly unlikely the people who paid said tax that is in the STATE accounts are going to be the ones who get that money back. most of it is from state owned mineral rights and taxes paid by big oil and privately owned mineral rights on those minerals. i suppose we could find a way to give big oil billions back. but, that seems ludicrous as we are likely gonna need it 40 years ago to clean up and generally fund the mess left behind out west. just ranting.
The only people this oil has helped is land owners an if u have a oil job the rest have to pay hand over fist to live in a diesel fuel town. The place is bad company to say the least. Dont get me started on cold months some of these dipshits out this way run diesel pickups through the night.
