We gripe about taxes yet here we are living this lifestyle. It helps when you write out that property tax check to think about others who don't have it as good as we do.

Yea you’re probably right. Some broke dude in Ethiopia has to eat bugs so I better just shut up and be thankful for my ramen noodles 🙄. I can understand the living with a grateful attitude but there’s a very fine line between gracious and pacifist…..Im not ok with our political situation as of right now. Im not ok with the corruption, overspending, and overtaxation and using the system for personal gain. The “well it could be worse” attitude is what got us to this point.

Agreed.
The reason some countries are poor, are the reasons we should tighten the belt. When times are good is when we should be stifling cash.
Our schools do not need to be palaces, and our roads should be made of gold for what we get charged to make and maintain them.

Doesn’t matter where the money comes from. It our VOTE. Want a different result. Put in a real measure that doesn’t just pass it someone else. All the last one did was make those who have mineral rights out west pick up the tab.
why don't mineral right owners have to pay taxes on it yearly? mineral rights have value just like surface rights have value and homes have value.

I think I would be fine with that. My expectations for services haven’t changed in 30 years.
In my little neck of the woods we (the residents) were saddled with a recycle bin, at a monthly cost for them to collect the "recycling" dump it at our garbage building so it can be sorted, then loaded unto another truck to ship to Minneapolis to recycle. The process is very labor intensive, the collected recycle is less than 50% useable to load into the truck for the cities, and once there sorted through again to make even less of it to the recycle process.

Its a scam, and we are not able to opt out.

Progress right there boys, and we can all feel better about it, kinda like windmills.

We have that too but I was thinking they raised our City bill to cover that rather than paying it out of property taxes but I certainly could be wrong about that. I just keep paying whatever they tell me I owe.

I think you at this point can opt out in Bismarck, however I believe there is talk about making it mandatory for every household to have both bins

Many years ago Bismarck did a pilot program on recycling glass. Problem was they wanted you to soak the labels off the glass jars . I ended up in that pilot program , needless to say my bin never had anything in it , think it lasted a couple months and the city got the hint from everyone

You are correct, it is not on the property tax part of our raping.
Just pointing out the forced nature of it all. We should all be happy to pay for this very little used amenity, as if we didn't have forced upon us bills, the boogiety man would come and steal the babies.

Im glad Im rural enough I can burn if I want to. So far not worth the few hundred it would save me but the more prices keep going up the more it’s crossed my mind……. If they EVER try to force me to recycle I will buy a bunch of used dildos covered in shit and throw them in the bin weekly for them to sort.

This was just for the recycling part when it was first inplemented. I have zero issues with the garbage part.

Ill fix the property tax system real quick in ND. Tax agricultural land at market value (like every other state) and dont allow farm residency exemption on primary residences. Tie the municipalities budget increases to the Consumer Price Index to keep up with inflation.
Before anyone labels me anti farming, I am not. I just don't believe in exemption based on occupation.

F ing cash grab our property taxes...we all paid day one at closing, Trump dangled the carrot to nix annual property tax for seniors over 65yrs old... vets to piggy back if bill passes.
