rod you are on the right path because if you all sit around waiting for a mount that you will never see will end up being waiting for money you will never see.

from a previous thread it is now known as "Little Chicago".

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe "Little Chicago" was the nickname for Minot back in the prohibition days.

I'll bite.

I dropped a bird off this last January. Looks like I'm SOL too. May I join pitchfork nation too?

How much $$ in deposits does this guy have in his pocket? if there's this many people just on this forum who have dropped birds off imagine how many others there are out there.

What a peach.

Im guessing if you dropped you bird off with this guy in the last three years your not gonna see your mount. Is there not law for these kinds of shenanigans? Im thinking this friutcake has pocketed a lot of peoples money. Fraud comes to mind.

I keep giving him the benefit of the doubt and I probably shouldn't. I know he has a family and I think his kid is in hockey and I know that can eat up a lot of a parents time. I think he really got himself into a deep hole accepting birds that he shouldn't have and has gotten so far behind that he can't see the light to get out. The main reason I started this post was because his Facebook posts stopped and most communication stopped and I was thinking there may have been some health or family issues. But it sounds like his radio career is doing well, so I'm tending to lean towards my birds being forgotten about. Atleast I did get one of the 5 back so I'm not out a whole lot on my $500 deposit.

Couldn't a guy (taxidermist) farm some of his work out? If he is overwhelmingly busy maybe get help?

Yea they could farm some work out to catch up and not get so far behind but not many do. It's easier to cash the check and hope the freezer lasts long enough to hold the birds and etc. For when they feel like putting it together. I've had a few bad experiences with birds and head mounts from guys like this before. Sucks

my buddy with the blue phase ross just got a text yesterday from rick here is what it said. " cant talk now, in a SB tourney over the wknd, will get ahold of you next week." seems like he does this to an awful lot of people.

maybe we all should show up a his front door, you know talk it out, over some blue yums yums

What is a SB tourney? Sounds like a canned text he has saved to his phone for a quick reply. But if he has time to text that couldn't he text an update on where he is with your bird? The other problem I have with this is if he is this busy with taxidermy and wants to do it as a serious business maybe no do tournaments, I know a guy has to have a life and not work 24/7 and have some fun, but if your this far behind get caught up and not get such a negative rep, then learn to say no and only do so many birds a year or something. Having clients wait 4 years or longer for a mount or not even getting a bird back because it spoiled on his poor time management is ridiculous and not a good way to get repeat business.

Don't get me wrong I have no problem waiting to get a mount back if the taxidermist does great work its well worth the wait, but having a trophy or animal that has sentimental value ruined because it wasn't taken care of in a timely manner by the taxidermist is a problem.

To your originall point he is a member on another site and when I looked he had last been on in January. With the bad rap he is getting on this thread i keep waiting for him to show up on here and do some damage control.

Sb tourney must be softball tourney, i.e. should be "doing my G-D job that I said i would do for YOU instead of effing off on YET another hobby I'm actually not invested in; nor getting paid to do!"
MAN, this is a sad story for someone I used to respect back in the Nodak Outdoors days.. No matter if there's a reason for "your darkest days, illness, injury, etc etc," you keep in contact with your clientelle and you hold them to the highest degree because thats your reputation, trustbank, INTEGRITY, on the line.. Being in sales, those 3 things are all that matters..take care of those that take care of you..

Sad thing is i believe he may have taken a trophy hunt or 2 on your guy's expense is what it sounds like and if those birds shot on those trips were mounted before yours, "houston we got a MAJOR problem here".

Amen to all the above!

What gets me is he went on a trip of a lifetime to shoot king eiders, and then turned around and mounted them darn near immediately. Meanwhile, paying customers have their trophy birds deteriorating in his freezer.

And he has time for fishing and tournaments and whatever else.

Obviously Rick's priorities are way FUBAR'd at the moment...time for a reality check. Either get with the program and pay your dues, or have the sack to make things right with your customers.

Look him up on facebook. He seems to be quite busy with baseball and fishing. Expensive hobbies that are funded by your deposits... :;:stirthepot

ive had 5 birds mounted by rick. the latest was probably 5 years ago. i want to apologize to anyone who took my recommendation. rick used to be a top notch guy and taxidermist. i dont know what happened. i always got my birds back but im a pretty aggressive type 1 personality and prodded pretty hard the last couple birds he did for me. what he is doing now is disgusting. i cant believe anyone who wants to save face wouldnt come out publicly and apologize and try to get this ship righted. by maintaining silence its showing disrespect for the out
door comminity with which he does business. kind of a slap in the face. itll only get worse ie lawsuits, bbb, a.g. ive seen rick play softball and i cant understand why u
youd let a business in which you are a top dog go to shit for an unpaid softball career in which you are average at best.

I really wish he would join the conversation. He has to have seen this thread by now, and if not...he needs to. At least give the man a chance to explain. But if he HAS seen this, and is ignoring it....;:;badidea

Don't apologize. I would have given the exact same advice had I not started to hear more and more horror stories.

Plain and simple, Rick mounts one of the prettiest birds in the country. The fact he's basically given a giant one-finger salute to customers is nobody's fault but his own.
