Just guessing but... Would guess most don't carry a rangefinder and if they do, MOST won't pickup a coyote at 300 yards:;:sorry
A 22-250 ( as a coyote) rifle is a 350 yard cartridge for the average Joe!

Even 350 is a tough shot on a coyote. You are beminoids friend so come shoot my 1:8 twist sometime. Have a concrete bench.

The .224 75's are hard on fur but make the 22-250 a LOT more than a 350yd rifle. Leupold TMR is .5Mil and 1Mil hashes @ 20x and gives me 2Mil/4Mil windage and holdover @ 6.5x for when things need to happen quickly. Enslow's is dangerouser than mine.

My hunting partner is a long range guy, real deal not the new age ones.
Anyways he has taken like 26+ coyotes over 1,000, thats always impressed me.
But he has never hit a fox that far and that bothers the shit out of him! ha ha ha

Holy cats , 26+ coyotes over 1000 yards ? what is he shooting them with ?

- - - Updated - - -

If you have ever skinned a fox there isn't much to shoot at under the fur .

- - - Updated - - -

I only shoot junk but it gets me meat and served me well in competition shooting but for me it would be easier to hit a 3' vertical 2x6 than a fox at 1000 yards. There are a lot of good excuses for missing a fox at 1000 yards.

I haven't used the Vortex so no comment on that scope. The Nikon MONARCH 3 with the BDC reticle is an excellent hunting optic. Dialing in the BDC reticle utilizing Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program will provide you with excellent accuracy. We have shot soda cans at over 600 yards using BDC reticle scopes. For coyote hunting, it works great. As soon as you get fur in the circle you send a round. Easy to use and very accurate. The MONARCH glass is also excellent.

This guy was laying with a doe at 906 and he center punched him in the chest stone dead. Doe stood up and sniffed him, didn't have a clue what happened to him.
