Hey everyone. We actually have a development coming up in Lincoln on the East edge of town. Shouses are allowed on 1 plus acre lots (sandy soils so able to go down to 1 acre minimum with a drain field due to sandy soils). If anyone is interested in a lot please reach out for more details. Regarding taxes I would always verify with your local auditor. I just spoke with a couple I know that live in a Shouse, they are in Burleigh County and their garage portion is at a different tax rate than the living quarters.

60 x 100 with 18ft side walls. Wood 2x6 walls.
conventional smart siding on front 60ft wall of "house".
60x70 shop/garage
Was your framing designed by a structural engineer ? 18' seems pretty tall using 2x6 lumber. I know in the Bis area engineering is a requirement for any wall over 10' in height.

Burleigh county didn't require any engineering for my walls over 10 ft. Maybe that changed in the last few years.

My garage addition last year I wanted 10' walls but made them walls 9'11" to avoid having to hire a structural engineer to design them as per Burleigh County building inspector. I know it used to be 12' and over but that changed to 10' and over a few years back.
