I'm not getting in a pissin match, good grief.

Guy was looking for a good deal for the money.

Look through allot of glass and buy what you want.

For packing in I'd buy that $500 gold ring on bisman, save up and in a couple years sell it for 700 and buy what you like..:;:cheers

I have the Vanguard Endeavor ED binos and 65mm spotting scope. I've compared them to the Vortex stuff and I couldn't tell the difference. The Vanguard stuff has a pretty good following in the bird watching world. That's where I did most of my reading on them before I purchased. Those guys spend more time behind glass in a month than I do in a year, so I think they know what they're talking about.

I have the zeiss 15-45x65 and the Zeiss 20-60x85 diascopes, both straight. I had the 15-45x60 swaro sts (non HD) and have found the zeiss to be a little bit better. The color clarity is sharper than the swaro. The swaro really seemed to accentuate the blues and grays.

You can find some diascopes on sale sometimes but they also have them as demo models on some of the big camera retailers online which will save you big bucks for an awesome scope. Other than that, the Leupold Gold ring 12-40x60 is really hard to beat for the money.
