They also banned alcohol as well.... by the way how did that one work out? exactly the same as the war on drugs. The hate is generated by the insanely slanted stupid shit you post so stop posting stupid shit and I'll let go the hate!
So where will we be in another 20 years if we keep up this pace of "tolerance"?

I haven't made up my mind yet.
Davy out of curiousity, honestly, what would YOUR response have been 20 year ago if someone had told you gay marriage would be legal in ND, smoking pot was legal and the state wanted to run gambling casinos?
What "bubble wrap" laws should we not have?
I don't know and don't care what my opinion was 20 years ago, It doesn't apply to this issue today.

I'm guessing most on here know what your response would have been. So why doesn;t history of what has occurred in changes in the past not apply to why some folks are against the state opening casinos today?
Perhaps we should just go the route Nevada has an legalize and tax brothels as well?

Perhaps a state ballot measure?

Well I don;t think there is a chance in hell we will legalize prostitution here in North Dakota..................... but hey I struck out on the three I mentioned I thought we would never see 20 years ago.
For the record I am hoping this election may have been a stemming of the tide if you will..........we will see in two years how the mid terms go.
Anyways despite what Mr. Nelson claims state run casinos popping up across the state WILL have a negative affect on charitable gambling in small towns near them, that is simply common sense.
That will impact some pretty good programs in those small communities.
For many reasons, ive got no interest at all in letting someone make millions or billions of off gambling in this state.
Most small towns have pull tabs and possibly a black jack table if they can still generate enough to pay dealers. They lose a portion of the gamblers to the casinos we already have. Those casinos are going to be X miles from these small towns. If the state comes in and builds 6 across the state, unless they build them on top of the Indian casinos it will cut the distance those that gamble have to drive to do so. THAT is what will increase the loss of gambling revenues by a percentage in these small towns.
SO why couldn't we have state owned casinos prop up the small town gambling revenues? If a state owned casino does indeed take away from small town charities, then subsidize the small town charities with casino revenue and make them whole. The profits from a state casino belong to we the people, we should be able to do what we want with it. Don't see why that wouldn't work. I don't believe 6 casinos would be built anyways, not sure how they came up the no more than 6 concept.
We could also set aside some of the profits to be beat back future terrorist riots when another pipeline gets built on American soil and not on the rez.

I'm guessing most knew you would show up sooner or later and try to start a 30 page argument. God, can you not express yourself without singling people out to make them look bad in your image so that you and your clan can feel superior and carry chips on your shoulders ? I'm here to learn and I welcome opinions but I don't really feel like arguing or carrying a monkey on my back because of my opinion of MM or anything else. keep it up you will have more that 3 bad reps.

If that would occur it would deal with those loses of revenues and perhaps even increase them a bit. Didn;t hear anyone mentioning that solution in the proposals by the legislature.

Who is trying to "feel superior"?? Perhaps it is you that has the chip??
I am simply curious to how people think. This has nothing to do with your opinion on MM simply on ideologies of relaxing our laws over time and the consequences that eventually leads to.
Threats or even actions of whiney unsigned bad rep do little to dissuade my posting here.
I am simply curious to how people think.
This is the way I think. If there weren't already casinos in ND I'd be dead set against it but since we/they already have them I think what are the benefits and what are the drawbacks and do the existing casinos pay taxes in ND ? Is there a business plan with projected cash flows for the new casino idea? Financially I believe this will be a gold mine on the east side of the state and could end up being a huge liability on the west side. I think I have more questions than answers and I think I think less of Al Carlson the more I hear of him, I wish I'd never heard of this idea but it's reality so we better take a good look at it from all angles.
I'm sure glad this is a long ways off so people are educated before they vote on it.
