I have never had a student loan but have been getting calls for 3-4 weeks. I want it to stop. I wrote the Attorney General. Anybody else?

They are using numbers from Dickinson, Grand Forks (an old UND number), etc. After askign them why they contact me and then dropping f bombs on them when they keep asking me for my loan numbers they of course hang up on me. When I try to call back the numbers are no longer in service.

Ideas?... other than don't answer phone numbers you don't recognize?

happening to me as well. have been ignoring the phone calls, but yesterday finally got fed up and answered. went through the whole process, wasting a good 10-15 minutes of their time, but mine as well, then gave them a bunch of false information hoping it will get me taken off their list. cuz when i cuss them out, they just instantly hang up. haven't tried getting a hold of the AG, maybe that should be the next step, cuz this is getting old. and like you said, it's coming from ND numbers, slippery little buggers.

They're doing the same thing out here too. I've never had a student loan but they still call about what they can do to "help" me with it.

Possibly the worst part about these companies---- is that the "services" they offer and charge a fee for, a person with a student loan can take care of by themselves for free if they qualify. (Income based repayment, graduated repayment, income contingent repayment, public service loan forgiveness etc). Sometimes loan borrowers are unaware of these repayment programs, the company informs them, gives them paperwork, charges a few hundred bucks, calls the next sucker. They are just fishing for uninformed borrowers. Needs to be stopped.

yes - it's clear they're ripping people off using phantom phone numbers, etc.

Yep, I get calls all the time from cell numbers from nearby towns like williston. I normally don't answer the phone unless I know who it is but they catch me still. Some do have a push # option to get on the no call list and that seems to help some. Pretty much any service a person signs up for gets their info sold. It's like when you buy a vehicle you get constant "warranty expiration" notices from BS places. Satellite radio probably is at fault for that.

You are still paying on student loans at your age? Wow you must be either really smart or really dumb haha.

If i don't recognize the number on my cell phone, I never answer. My land line has an answering machine so I never pickup. The calls still come in. Probably a little less, but they are a relentless breed.
