With the new regulation and sucker minnows being allowed as bait in the big systems such as Sak and Devils, were will a guy mostly like find these? Scheels? Runnings? Local bait shops?

I'm asking because NDGF said it will be tougher to find these baits in ND as we start. I know a guy can find them in MN, but it's illegal to bring bait across the border.

Thoughts?

Not sure where you are in the state but if near the Fargo area I highly suggest Fargo Bait and Tackle, may not be as convenient to get to but well worth actually getting bait vs a certain big box store in Fargo that has become hit and miss plus I have found his bait to be higher quality and stays good longer. Plus the experience and tips the man has and is willing to share is a great bonus.
Anywhere else in the state I am guessing you will have to start asking around

I’m wondering if anyone will even have them for a year or two. In the Minot/Sak area, I would bet not.

There will be a lot of guys selling them on bisman/marketplace, just like they currently do with creek chubs. Suckers are easier to trap and way easier to keep alive.

i assume that GF checks with folks selling chubs/suckers for a bait license. I can get a lot of sucker minnows, and will sell them, but I would imagine i need the cheep ol bait vendors license?

nm, found the information:
  1. Resident Wholesale Bait Vendors License ($70) is an annual license to sell and/or trap legal live aquatic bait at wholesale. A licensee may trap North Dakota waters with Department approval. This license includes ten tags to mark bait-trapping equipment. A tag must be affixed to each trap used by the licensee. Upon request (by application), the department shall issue additional tags to a licensee at a cost of five dollars per tag. A licensee may not import or export live aquatic bait without first obtaining a permit from the director (issued monthly; free of charge).
