Yet more reason to go through private surgery centers and whatnot, when you can. I'm biased because my wife works at one, but sure seems like patience care and customer satisfaction is their top priority -- not just making a buck.

I’ve found that when people want to yell at you, they have a much harder time doing it in person. When you’re on the phone, it’s just an anonymous voice you’re yelling at. Going to see someone in person may backfire on you. I’m exceptionally polite on the phone and in person, but I’m not a 6’3” 225# bearded bastard when you imagine me on the phone.

6'3" 225? your just a lil guy then :p

Are you guys dealing with issues VIA phone conversations ? If you haven't already done so, I'd sign up for "Mysanfordcharts" online where everything is right there in front of you with no room for error. I have nothing but good to say about Sanford but we might just be lucky. The closest we came to a bad experience was over a Dr visit for my back and the drive to Fargo was unbearable so I was cranky when the receptionist told me I wasn't on their schedule and I was SOL. She showed no remorse until I produced a copy of the appointment time , date and location that I had printed off my Sanford chart a few days earlier. She excused herself for about two minutes and came back and apologized, That was the first time I have ever had 5:45 PM Dr appointment. Billing has never been an issue, we have spent plenty there. Same with health Ins. Online so you know what is getting paid and what is not. I used to help my Mother figure out her medical bills and insurance , I saw some shady crap where medical providers get paid from insurance and also send bill to consumer, I often wondered how many older people didn't understand and paid the bill. I think now days they are stamped " This is not a bill" but a few years ago -Not the case.

Yes, we have been at the billing office and talked them face to face. Gets us nowhere.constant calls to their main office in Sioux Falls. Neither seem to work. Would think this would be a good insurance fraud case.Both of us got a call from the collection agency this week again. If we call or go visit Sanford they put the billing off for 30 days and say they will get it straightened out and the collection agency quits calling. After that we get a unpaid Bill notice and the collection agency starts calling again. Won't be back home till Sunday so we will have to try something different next week.

The only advice I have is quit talking and do everything VIA Email or Sanford chart so you have records of who said what and why.

I personaly would not go to Sabford, too many horror stories, my mother had aweful care there did needless surgery, Bone Docs have some ego issues,They have gone corperate and its is not the health care anymore, its the money. After spending near 40 years in the heakthcare field, I feel as though I am a little more in tune to the nature of the beast, Sadly this is the future,gone are the days when people mattered more than than the cash,thus the early retirement.

File a lawsuit small claims for the HSA money. Call workers comp and the ND ins comm. Your story isn't clear. Who paid for the leg? What was your total bill broken down between the work injury and your personal bill? Whoever said hire a lawyer keep in mind Sanford has a retainer with every lawyer that crawls hence conflict of interest . Only u can do an HSA pmt
