I'm gonna try the Gen 2 Ulterra for the price I got it for. For only $250 more than the Terrova, I'll roll the dice. Minn Kota has been good to me so far with customer service as well.

Bit the bullet and ordered the gen 2 Ulterra. Can't wait to hit the happy button.

Just pulled the trigger last week. Ordered from the guy up here at the Angle? My question is how do I know if I got a Gen 2???

Bought mine last August, have been completely satisfied SO far. I'm used to spot lock variances since having a v2 I pilot before, doesn't make much difference for my fishing, wanted the stow/deploy cause I fish when I can alone or not. The gen 2's have the external gps puck as well as the one in the head of the motor from what I understand.

Reeds has them on sale. The answer to your next question is whatever you can get for it.

A friend of mine just sold a 36V Terrova for $750. It was not in tip top condition but worked good. It was probably around 5 years old. He put an Ultrexx on in place of it and that unit is nice.

I had a Ulterra Gen1 and on my new boat GEn2. Spot lock on Gen 1 sucked but the you could revert it back to what is called the legacy mode which was like the Terrova. The is what I set it to and it worked fine.

Loving the motor so far. Sitting in the back of the boat and hitting the button is only part of it. It operates 10 times better than my old I-pilot. I can steer "through" people as it doesn't need line of site. About 1/5 as noisy as the old motor and the spot lock actually works very well. No over compensating. Lastly, it ramps the speed up with a bit of a "cushion" so it doesn't about throw you out of the boat if you accidentally hit the "rabbit" button. So far so good.
