Fantastic! Now let's settle up with the tribe to pay reparations to the citizens who were affected and we can move on.

Where did I say republicans dont glamp either? Show me where…. Fact is their is pansies on both sides but you’ll never see a democrat “roughing it” your reading comprehension is complete dogshit.
I think I’m officially dumber after reading your BS. Granted, the bar is not very high. Most on this site think I’m a “democrat”, or ”liberal”. I have plenty of pictures from backpacking hunts for goat, sheep etc that prove you are wrong.

Maybe you should consider some anger management classes. Seem to be a bit edgy.
Nope. Not sure where how you confused anger out of my cynicism. I’ll just assume since my previous posts made you “dumber” in your own words you are now working with a negative balance 🤷🏼

These closures can't all be blamed on Federal cut backs. We love down stream campground and in the last 15 yrs and mainly after Covid did we see a lack of employee or volunteers . No longer have someone at the gate, they haven't done bingo or movies at the outdoor area it's actually becoming over grown. Trout pond have been improved but that's be coming over grown. It's not the same from when we grew up and raised our kids.
which is weird, because supposedly people are recreating now more than ever and mnay of the campgrounds are charging...so one would think there was way more money to manage the resources now than from back when we were kids. For me that goes back to the 80's

Not weird at all. If you were the person responsible for managing a dam project and your budget got whacked and weren't allowed to hire anyone, what do you cut? Dam maintenance which has historically already been difficult to keep up with, or recreational facilities that you can't staff? Keep in mind now, the historical reflection that would take place if you choose recreation over dam safety if that dam were to fail or have other major issues later down the road. Also remember, camping fees in general (last I checked) do NOT go into the facility's budget. Collected fees go into the U.S. Treasury, or in state parks, to the state General Fund. I haven't really paid attention to the details for several years, but I've not heard of any major changes to this policy.

One can't go into McDonald's and negotiate the price of a Happy Meal, why would a person think they can get the same level of services out of the government by offering to pay less? Inefficiencies, waste, fraud and abuse? At least two of those terms are criminal in nature, yet the list of arrests made so far is very short.

So just because the camping fees in gov run campgrounds go directly into the treasury doesn't mean they aren't turning a profit. And the only can be open for 5 months a year here argument doesn't cut it either or that would mean the KOA's in ND, Indian Hills and all the other private campgrounds in ND must all be losing money and are only doing it as a public service I guess.

Comparing a government run campground to a KOA is like comparing the United States Post Office to UPS Or FEDEX.

I was only trying to make the point that I don't believe that all campgrounds don't make money. If I'm not mistaken Lake Tchida campgrounds are operated as non profit. They turn the proceeds into improvements around the lake. Which wouldn't be possible if they were constantly losing money.

Tschida's camping is operated by the county.

You are correct, it doesn't mean that the campground is unprofitable.

What it does mean though is that the Corps doesn't get to keep the money. Their budget is set regardless of how much money the campground brings in.

You sound just like a politician. Do you suppose the DOE/COE could possibly cut a few of their white-collar jobs? According to the latest data, the DOE/COE have around 48,625 people employed with 62% being white collar jobs. Seems the liberal COE is making cuts targeted to hurt all the people that like to use the parks and recreation areas as to drive a divide and get more people to resist the Trump/Musk agenda. This is just another tactic used by the deep state liberal agencies to hold on to their corrupt power. Hopefully Trump will see this tactic and fire the leaders who made these cuts directed at the hard-working little people and re-open these recreation areas.
Furthermore: The annual budget for the Omaha District COE is around $1.75 BILLION dollars. You are telling me that they can't adjust their budget cuts somewhere other than closing down these campsites? Reports estimate they will only save around $200,000. this year which amounts to 0.0114% of their annual budget.
