In our public schools, kids being indoctrinated to "crt" or? Last night visiting with a friend, exchanging lies about recent fishing etc I asked about his young boy in 4th grade 9 or 10 yrs old?

Kid plays hockey like a high schooler.very talented,he loves to fish as well...

When I asked what our local public elementary school is teaching his /our children thinking crt would come up,I was shocked to learn his son's 4th grade class is learning "chinese" WTF!maybe it's me but isn't "english" #1 priority at such a young age?

thinking way back about my high school years we were required to take one foreign language, either spanish or german....but not so in grade school, chinese is a bitch for adults, but grade schooler's...

What do you guyz think.

Kids that age learn easier and faster than us old bastards, not sure it should be required, but see no harm if the kids can opt out, or pick a different language.

V nashikh gosudarstvennykh shkolakh detey vnushayut "CRT" ili? Vchera vecherom v gostyakh u druga, obmenivayas' lozh'yu o nedavney rybalke i t. D. YA sprosil o yego mal'chike v 4-m klasse, 9 ili 10 let?

Malysh igrayet v khokkey, kak starsheklassnik, ochen' talantliv, lyubit lovit' rybu ...

Kogda ya sprosil, chto nasha mestnaya gosudarstvennaya nachal'naya shkola uchit yego / nashikh detey, dumaya, chto pridet CRT, ya byl shokirovan, uznav, chto v 4-m klasse yego syna uchat "kitayskiy" WTF! Mozhet, eto ya, no ne "angliyskiy" # 1 prioritet v takom yunom vozraste?

Vspominaya moi shkol'nyye gody, my dolzhny byli uchit' odin inostrannyy yazyk, ispanskiy ili nemetskiy .... no ne v nachal'noy shkole, kitayskiy - suka dlya vzroslykh, a vot dlya starsheklassnikov ...

Chto vy dumayete, parni?

Alright enough of that already. I have enough problems trying to read something in English since my last stroke and then you come with this foreign stuff. ;:;rofl
Wish they would have offered spanish when i was going to school. Small school and no foreign language offered back then.
Would have come in handy now that we are down south. :;:exactly

I don't think it's a bad idea. In fact I'd encourage learning Chinese. I wish I knew what they were saying. I don't always trust the subtitles and translations...

I'll take kids learning foreign languages over CRT any day.

I know a couple of folks who went abroad to teach English in foreign countries right out of college. Great experiences and they made really good $$$$.

Spanish would be a great thing to know I think. I still want to learn it so I can understand what these Mexicans are saying when I’m out and about

I would think that with the way the world’s economy is trending knowing Chinese would be a very valuable skill. The younger a person is the easier it is to learn a language. I would like to know Spanish so I could communicate better when in Florida and Texas. I don’t go to California.

Seems every other country starts english at a very young age i would think it would serve us well in the long run to know what the hell they are saying also. With a global economy more skills is never a bad thing

agreed. spanish, german and french were the options for us growing up. i had 3-4 years of spanish. sadly, still never got to be very fluent in it. teacher sucked frankly and it was one of the few classes i took that had practically zero accountability. having said that, the couple of times i was in mexico, it was definitely beneficial. could at least attempt to have a conversation, read signs, etc... these days, chinese seems like the logical choice.

2 years of High School French, pretty useless.

Learned enough Spanish by working in a kitchen in Arizona for a few months.
