Location
Lincoln, kinda...
Whatever goes bang and brings the game home.

I have both. Wood works just fine unless I am trying to relive bootcamp and need to swim with my rifle.

A good wooden stock that is bedded properly is better than most of the cheap plastic factory stocks being sold today IMO. A good stiff carbon fiber stock is the best though.

I also think that the cheap plastic stocks are cheaper and that is why we see more of them than wood in retail stores.

prolly depends on what you are going to use it for.
speaking for rifles, generally a synthetic stock will be lighter by a touch unless of course you stretch for the fiberglass stocks made by McMillan/manners which will be significantly lighter in weight and also to your check book. generally speaking wood will respond to atmospheric/temperature changes more than a synthetic stock will so your POI ( point of impact)can change from day to day in different weather conditions.

like the case in most of the hunting/fishing world you get what you pay for
