I've got 2 words for ya, "Amazon Prime". I looked, you can get yourself a new headstall, squeeze chute, deer fence, snow fence, barbed wire fence, electric fence for cattle/sheep/hogs/chickens, no hunting signs, skid-steer attachments, tractor/pickup/skid-steer tires, and a partridge in a pear tree in the form of a snow-globe or christmas-tree ornament.

It is truly amazing the whole new world we here in Antler discovered with the creation of the internet by Mr Gore.

But once again you seem to avoid providing any answers as to a formula or process or equitable usage of collected tax dollars as you insult those that simply asked for those wanting to abolish property taxes to provide before supporting their measure.

Was curious so I went and checked my tax statements. Have a house in town and a lake home. Taxes on both went down as far as total tax. Values stayed the same and mill levies were virtually identical to the past. Will pay a little more because 12% that the state paid isn no longer being picked up by the state but no increase overall. If I have to blame anyone I can blame the state but I knew that payment wasn't going to continue forever. Own land in 2 counties, not because there are lots of acres but because the land borders both counties. Taxes did not go up in either county, nor did the valuation. And again, my bill is slightly more because of the 12% deal with the state.

Total increase for me wouldn't pay the bill if I were to spend the weekend in Fargo with my wife to watch the Bison move on to the National Championship in Frisco. The counties schools, and city where I live have not been steadily increasing the taxes in leaps and bounds.

Quite honestly the federal income tax takes a bigger bite than the other taxes.

One solution might be to pay property taxes monthly, like most of your other payments. Total is the same but you don't get that big bill all at once. Kind of like "would you buy that boat if your payment was annual in January?" Monthly it's not so bad as most people are paid either monthly or more likely twice a month.

Looks like Antler has, "Tell me the whole plan first and I better get mine'd" itself nearly out of existence.

Ive always interpreted this response as being on board 100%. What kind of boat did you order?

That's what I thought as well. Once the apartment lease and signed and house is sold, those Yarcraft with a 400 should certainly catch me more fish!

Again with no answers or solutions.

Honest question, what did you think when they passed Obama care without really knowing what it would actually do or cost or how it would even be implemented?

2nd question, given your apparent disdain for our legislators, why would you lay this responsibility at their feet to come up with a solution??

If people in the private sector that believe in getting rid of property tax would actually come up with a workable solution and present it WITH their measure, my guess is it would pass in the upper 80% range.

So why are you not holding those people accountable and understanding it is a "pox" on them for wanting people to buy a pig in a poke just cause they say so?

I’m pretty sure we have like 5 billion sitting in a legacy fund somewhere.

And if I'm not mistaken there are other protected funds other than the Legacy Fund. State is a long ways from being broke. Probably not a bad idea that it's not easily accessible.

You should eventually have the boat paid for and no more payments. Fed. taxes will go down for Me after I retire in a few years. Property taxes, you can't escape unless one downgrades their standard of living. I don't have any children, so you can imagine how I feel about property taxes. Who paid for My education? My parents did as they should have for choosing to be a parent. In fact they paid twice. 1)property taxes. 2)paid to send us to catholic schools. We have created a society that expects others to pay for their needs. There fore I don't see a change in our tax system. You can't compete against free! Definition of taxes should be: Take/steal from the responsible and redistribute to the irresponsible.

One solution might be to pay property taxes monthly, like most of your other payments. Total is the same but you don't get that big bill all at once. Kind of like "would you buy that boat if your payment was annual in January?" Monthly it's not so bad as most people are paid either monthly or more likely twice a month.

Predicted funding gap of $400-700 million

BISMARCK, N.D. - From 2019 to 2021 the state of North Dakota is expected to be short $400 to 700 million dollars if changes are not made.
In the next legislative session, lawmakers will meet at the Capital to discuss, among other things, spending cuts for the coming years.
In January of this year, lawmakers were forced to raise taxes to balance the state's budget. There may be more hikes coming which won't be popular.
"We actually wondered when we'll have to get the pitchforks out and go pay a visit to our lawmakers, we don't want higher property tax," said Morris Conklin, Bismarck resident.
Lawmakers could also make more spending cuts.
"First of all, I guess my hope would be that we would see an increase in economic activity across the state that will help us close that gap. Beyond whatever may be available in that form, I think we'll be looking at budget reductions," said Rep. Craig Headland, R-Montpelier.
North Dakota ran into a similar problem at the start of this biennium, cutting over a billion dollars of state spending and draining a number of special funds to balance the budget through 2019.

"It's not completely dire, we could have revenue growth. On the other hand, we could see ourselves falling short and have to cut budgets further going into the next biennium," said Pam Sharp, Office of Budget and Management Director.
There is still a hefty balance in the state's Legacy fund which could be tapped into with a two thirds vote of the legislature.
A turnaround in the price of oil could make balancing the budget easier, but there are still 12 months to go before lawmakers need to sharpen their pencils.

The way it sounds, its not going to get any better. Hopefully they supply us residents with a bigger bottle of lube. I believe they are blaming this on spending to much on road construction since the oil boom started.

The more I read this thread the more I like property Taxes or at least the concept. I hate pating and I know it's not perfect.

1. I knew what I'd be paying when I bought my house. Yes they have gone up a little but they don't fluctuate for me like income tax.

2. I know where the money goes and it benefits everyone. Those against paying for others schooling. Think about how bad it would be if everyone didn't get at least some education. There are enough dumb people as is.

3. There arnt as many loopholes to get out of paying them. I only know of one program that reduces them for seniors.

New records set in oil and natural gas production

The Department of Mineral Resources says new records were set in October for oil and natural gas production.

Natural gas reached more than two billion cubic feet per day. Oil production also grew by more than 78,000 barrels a day from September to October, the largest month-to-month increase ever. Producing wells also hit an all-time high at 14,250.
"It's an indicator of the strength behind the industry and the number of drilling rigs and frack crews that are working,” said Lynn Helms, North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources.
Justin Kringstad of the state Pipeline Authority says from June to October, the state brought in $43.5 million more in state revenue because of the Dakota Access Pipeline compared to the same time period last year.

Do you notice that so many law makers when asked about possibly having to cut the budget so many add well there is the Legacy fund that we could possibly tap into. What the heck balance the budget and don't worry about having a piggy bank that you can cut a hole in and drain it out. Spend, spend, spend, is all they know!
Time to clean house and start with a fresh batch and i mean both sides of the aisle.

gst; If anyone foresaw the drop in oil pricing and positioned themselves in the market accordingly said:
How can something so simple be so hard for some people to grasp ? There is a supply and a demand with every commodity .

You were talking about an imbalance in crude oil supply and demand then you switched to another subject- wheat.

I can't predict weather or wheat production any better than the man in the moon but I can tell you what would happen to wheat prices if new technology provided a way for every producer to harvest 120 Bushels of wheat per acre.
