Why's it a bummer? We have more than enough cleaner burning
natural gas to replace it.

ya.....ask Xcel about having more than enough Natural Gas.....and lets see the $$$ of electricity as natural gas prices rise!!!!
Is the heskett power plant that pipes the co2 underground? I remember reading an article of a power plant in north Dakota that was the first in the nation to pipe co2 gas under ground into old oil wells then when the well couldn't hold anymore co2 it would be capped off. Would be great to see that kind of system utilized when they retrofit this power to use natural gas. Zero emissions would be great especially since we have the technology to do it already here in north Dakota
Well I have electric now and would give anything to be heated by natural gas where I spend a 1/3 more money to heat using electric or natural gas. North Dakota is finally getting natural gas plants to convert the abundant amount of natural gas to a liquid which can be sold to power other areas where natural gas is not available. It's a win for north Dakota where instead of burning it off as a wasted by product of oil fraking
Tree Hugger !!!!! Solar Min - next ice age -- the temps at the pole reversing and gettting colder.

He's a tree hugger for wanting to burn natural gas instead of coal. Got it.
Natural gas is cheaper to heat with than electricity yes. I’m not sure if it still is, but it had been subsidized in the part though. Here’s the part you don’t understand though. Natural gas has been at rock bottom lows for the past 5 years or so. That because of an abundance of that resource. One there is a power market better established, it will go up. Probably quite a bit. In turn, electricity prices will go up as it will cost more to make it. Coal is the cheapest form of electricity in this area. It will cost more when we switch over to natural gas. That’s a fact. If that wasn’t the case, we wouldn’t be begging companies to put generation up.
So yeah, natural gas generated electricity isn’t a bad thing. It’s a good use of wasted gas, but it will cost us more period. I can’t put a cents per kw/hr to it, but it’s more.
Does anyone know if there will still be the need to use river water to cool something there by continuing to produce a warm water discharge which could leave the fishing in the Heskett area unchanged?
