Is there a site with confirmed winter killed lakes out anywhere? With the load of lakes with oxygen depletion this winter, I figure the opening water should be showing how bad it got. Maybe they are out checking and haven't put out results yet

They had a suspected list based on their dissolved oxygen testing, but I haven't seen a "confirmed" list.

I did see a video of Big Mallard Marsh with a pile of carp washed along the wind blown shore.

There was a LOT more than just big carp...from the pics I was sent, I threw up a little.

CORRECT. I could see walleyes in the video as well, but it wasn't of great quality.

No list yet. The "where to fish" section seems to be getting updated as they go. There was still some ice in the SE beginning of last week so I'm guessing we will be waiting awhile for a list

So if you click on a lake and it's dated May 2023 and says nothing about winter kill, does that mean it's all good?

Drove out to Danzig Dam a couple days ago for lack of anything better to do. There were some floaters along the south side near the boat ramp but only saw one 18" northern and no Walleyes.

If you see dead fish piled up like that I would think the likelihood of survivors is pretty slim.

Was out at Crystal Springs last weekend but didn't see any floating around the boat dock. It's one of the lakes that was suspected of winter kill.

Lincoln, kinda...
Bloating = Floating

There are, I assume, differences in the lethality of low dissolved oxygen amongst the species. Trout have very high O2 requirements, catfish...not so much. While I am sure there is overlap, different species probably die off progressively as O2 levels decrease. This may have something to do with the species one sees on the shore.

Personally walked shore Big Mallard Marsh. Walleyes, perch, and northern in amongst the dead carp. Bad deal

Its just nature -- every spring and lot of them you dont see as the birds got em - or the water isnt clear enough. Some die and dont float. It is what it is. The bottom line is dont spend any money on those lakes that will freeze out anyway. Lets henegar it and get some zander and stock away in the big lakes. Come on man!!

Well...dead carp are a good thing. What this says about the rest of the pond; IDK. I wouldn't be surprised about an explosion of bullhead.
