    All I know is that there is doubt capping gratis tags at 10% would yield a nice increase in draw odds. Which in turn might keep more youth and novice hunters in the field. Which is what we all should want if we want to keep hunting in the future.

    KDM, Are you confused? Clueless? Maybe a little slow? Everyone DOES NOT have the same chance of getting a tag. About half of the buck tags in this state are issued as gratis tags. Of course you don't see a problem with that. You clearly benefit from it. So be damned to anyone who might suffer...

    I don't think it would have an effect on the population either way. Way less habitat to rebound from tough winters is the problem with population. That said, As a land owner you should be able to get a tag every year, but why does it have to be for a buck? I just think that if gratis tags...

    I am probably stepping in it here, but I think with deer numbers so low, gratis tags should be for antler-less deer only. Also the GNF should make it so you can only have one buck tag. Meaning if you draw a buck tag with your rifle or muzzleloader, your archery tag is only good for...
