It's the tree huggers who wake up in the morning and decide im going to save the deer and get grants and non profit funding to sit in an air conditioned lab and play scientific. Or get on some podcasts communitee and tell the peanut gallery that we need to ban this and that because they have no clue, they would rather stay ignorant to the real issue and that is common sense.

Just check in with written testing submitted on 2137 to see how many in favor or opposed:

https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-202...y/bt2137.html?bill_year=2025&bill_number=2137

Opened up the very bottom one in opposition. This is what it says:

Experts within the NDGFD need to manage our wildlife resources, including Chronic Wasting Disease and its implications to our deer populations. CWD cannot be managed by legislators or their constituents. Experts are needed to control deer populations. Do not restrict the experts from doing so. They are experts for a reason

Right above that one is Dusty Backer submission,

House ENR Committee: RE: SB 2137- In support House ENR Committee: SB 2137 reads: Hunting big game animals using supplemental feed, not prohibited or restricted (on private property with a 4 year sunset)

With the key word being HUNTING. This bill is returning, the people, their right to HUNT. SB 2137 is just that simple. The people are not being allowed to hunt around the feed that they are permitted to put down.

A bit of history behind this Bill is important to be aware of. In 2005, there were discussions in the ND Game and Fish Agency of banning the feeding of wildlife. 2009 Legislation brought a Bill that would do just that. A variety of North Dakotans came to the capitol to unite and speak up against this Bill.

There were bird watchers, backyard enthusiasts, small parcel owners, sportsmen, and landowners of all sizes that were passionate about the feeding of the states wildlife. At the conclusion of the Bill’s journey to failing, NDGF Director Terry Steinwand, commented that the Bill caused tremendous division with the people and the department, and that the department would never attempt this kind of restriction again.

The people can feed wildlife anywhere, any time and at any amount, no matter what restrictions have been imposed. Here we are in 2025, and the restriction has turned towards hunting. There are 28 units that should be restricted in 2025. That is 28 areas that could receive citations for hunting around feed that they can legally place anytime of the year, any location, and at any amount.

The People are asking for the right to hunt to be returned. If you look back at the simply written Bill, it is about HUNTING, not feed. This bill is not about timing of feed. This bill is not about a distance of feed. This bill is not about an amount of feed.

The 2009 People secured the topic of feed. If you are concerned about an “outbreak” and authority, the NDGF has the overall authority, in an emergency, along with ND Board of Animal Health, and the Governor, to make changes as needed. I invite you to vote a DO PASS on the existing bill that is in front of you. It is simple, concise, and what the people want. There are no additional amendments that would make sense so, let’s keep it clean and lead it to the House floor on its merits.

Respectfully, Dusty Backer

but dusty told me there aint no such thing as a prion n shared plenty of science to prove it plus he proved its just the fish n game tryin to control our food source n wct12 said its so we can feed the starvin deer n someone else said its so old folks n kids stay huntin cuz they got no attention span so jist tell me the bottom line so I know what to scream at the libs on facebook
I think I actually said i said the department should do something beneficial for deer herds like provide supplemental feed for them in the winter, or at the very least help the landowners and sportsmen that are already doing that.. Because that would be more well recieved than them writing an article in a newspaper about how many deer died of starvation and elements over the winter and saying tag numbers were reduced once again.

Was visiting with a Representative yesterday and showed me their email. Almost too many to read and no way can respond to them all. Written testimony on SB 2137 can be accessed here:

https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-202...y/bt2137.html?bill_year=2025&bill_number=2137

Representatives won't have time to read all their emails and read these written testimonies also. They will stop in and see how many in favor and how many opposed. Right now the count still favors in favor.

We need a lot more in favor. Click on Hearings:

https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-202...s/bh2137.html?bill_year=2025&bill_number=2137

Submit testimony, follow the prompts. Two sentences in favor. I stumble on putting those two sentences in a pdf file. Typed it up in notepad and saved it. Enter it and then you will receive a verification code via email. It will be in your inbox pronto.

Here ya go coldfront.

Only two days left to submit.

And you will not see your submission right away. Takes awhile for them to dump a bundle at a time.

The site says submissions will be taken until 7:30 Friday morning. That may be too late. By the time the dump is made Friday morning, the hearing may be happening.

The lady from Cornell University in New York submitted. She helped write the Best Management Practices.

https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-2025/testimony/HNATRES-2137-20250307-39021-A-SCHULER_KRYSTEN_L.pdf

She also is the person suggesting deer hunters have to purchase a CWD Stamp to help fund testing.

https://conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1111/csp2.12779

And the Congressional Sportsmen Foundation NGO commented:

https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-2025/testimony/HNATRES-2137-20250307-39002-A-GOULD_JACOB.pdf

And National Deer Association submitted:

https://ndlegis.gov/assembly/69-202...20250307-38959-A-APPLING POOLER_CATHERINE.pdf

I visited with Nick Pinizzotto Chair of NDA. He said the deer population needs to come way down because fewer deer means less deer shedding prions. Which will buy time to figure CWD out.

Lots of out of State heavy hitters submitting.

Today is the last day to submit testimony. What would be even better is to attend the Hearing. At 8:00 am we will be meeting inside the south entrance to the Capital. Won't be hard to find the orange shirts. The orange shirts say, "we the people protect the herd." They are free.
