Don't worry about short-term declines. If you try to time the market your going to lose. When it's down that's a buying opportunity. Long term wins the race when it comes to the market.

Mine is sitting pretty decent. I must say though, when the big squeeze happens with the AMC and Gamestop stocks, I'll be sitting pretty good.

Don't forget about the ludicrous gains we've had over the past 10 years plus. Heck, I remember in the crash the Dow being at 6600. I'm still saying that at 35,000 it is overvalued and due for correction. But what do I know? I am long term and much as I'd love to time it, I won't. However, if I were close to retirement, I'd being moving to safety right now. Just too much of a possibility of a big (really big) correction occuring, along with all the geopolitical tension and COVID stuff.

Wow Clark, I haven't seen a beating like that since someone shoved a banana down my pants and turned a monkey loose!

Do you have your entire portfolio in tech or something? Something is not right if your even since the start of 2021. My current 401k was up 15.75% in 2021 and is down -4.84% in 2022.

Another rollover IRA I have from past job was up about 19% in 2021 and now is down about 5% for 2022.

I don't touch either of these accounts other than the occasional rebalancing. I just always consistently contribute to the current 401k. Interestingly my rollover IRA has now doubled in 7 years without any contributions.

I'm unsure what you're looking at or which funds you might've selected to deposit money into. I was up 20.4% in 2021 and have only declined $3,800 for the month of January 2022. I'll make that up in February and won't worry about looking back.

I have about the same amount of losses with the cash I'm playing with in my own stock market account, however yesterday and today have almost made those losses up. Corrections and slight bear markets are hard to look at, but just know they recover very quickly.
