Haha I love me a 22 inch barrel .270 with nosler partitions. It’s just my favorite deer gun besides the .243. I have a .300 win mag with 210 grain nosler accubond long range set up too but don’t want to blow a deer into next week.

I used a lot of Nosler 130gr partitions over the years for elk, deer and antelope. Then went to Barnes 130gr TSX and have killed almost 4 dozen elk and 10 or so deer and NO antelope so far.

Barnes are the only bullet i shoot my food with.
Id imagine thise 110s will do quite well for whitetails.

I would say they do the job. 120 gr out of a 7mm-08 at 624 yards. Double-lunged, full pass through and he was dead after a 30 yard trot. About 100 yards further than practiced but felt confident with the ballistics calculation and it was the last evening of a 12 day sheep hunt and I really needed to relieve some aggression.

Its the exact same gun that eseamands' wife uses. One of the better impulse buys I have made.

Im with jiffy. Why go down to a 110 when you are already using a 130 other then if you are like me asnd like messing with new loads? By all means have fun with the 110 but seems like you have a great thing going with the 130s.

Like messing some but it was mostly a result of reading reviews of the TTSX. Several suggested using the 130gr on larger game and the 110gr on deer size game as the 130gr frequently passed through before having a chance to fully expand. The ones favoring the 110gr thought because of the retained weight the lighter bullet fully expanded on deer size game. This is the first deer I've actually been able to test the bullet on.

I loaded them for a friend. I believe I got 3300-3400 out of them.

100 grain in my 25-06. Deadly. Been shooting them for like 20 plus years no complaints. Shot them into magazines and even frozen milk jugs. They hold together.

I shot a doe with my 300 165 grain tsx and she dropped right in her tracks right below the spine. Nice thing is the exit wound is minimal with these bullets and blowing up a doe is no concern when shooting these bullets.

I agree. I use TSX 130s for deer out of my 270. Stick with what works, unless you want to experiment. I have a load for 110gr Vmax that i use for coyotes and prairie dogs, but have always used 130's for deer.

I’ve killed deer with TSX’s of various bore diameters from 85gn up to 200gn with muzzle velocities from 2900-3800. On deer in particular, there’s almost no difference regarding how they actually “kill”. The 100/.257’s @3800 are the lone exception in that I’ve had a couple of marginal hits just behind the diaphragm still end up in very dead deer by the time I walked up to them. Everything else in the 2900-3300fps Range is pretty much cookie cutter.

That's an unusually large exit. Very atypical.... Did it hit shoulder bone coming out?

Actually no. It was a perfect broadside shot, but it looked like the bullet may have deflected upon entry. The exit hole was 4-6" behind the entry. Oddly enough though, there was some trauma on the off-side front shoulder like the bullet may have separated. I'll be cleaning that front tonight so I'll see what I can find.

I've seen petals come off but I can't say that I've seen really large exit wounds. Rarely larger than the size of a golf-ball.

I LOVE this thread. I've been shooting 130gr TTSX's out of my .308 zipping along at 3200fps for the last several years, and up until this year, every animal I've shot has dropped right where I shot it. I thought I missed an antelope this year and he just ran up a hill for about 75-100 yards and then dropped. Every single deer and antelope has been a pass through. Nearly every person I've talked with that has transitioned to these magical pills has had close to the same experiences as shared on this thread.

I did pick up some 110gr TTSX's this fall to tinker with.....everything I have read is that I should expect the same results as I have seen with the 130's. The only reason I am doing this is because the load I have for the 130gr rounds shoot so well it gets almost boring...almost. I'm also going to tinker with a 168gr load this spring.....just because.
