At this point, how far south does one have to go to find a continuous sheet of ice across the Missouri?
We fished pollock bay yesterday and had 3-4 inches of ice. Water would come up through some of the cracks walking out didnt wander around to much. Big area open by shaw creek south of there still

I'll start the guessing game...when do you think the ramps in town will be open? Would have to think within the next two weeks with the temps forecasted.

So it's not too early to bust the boat out of prison?
Don't kid yourself, you are the prisoner in this scenario...haha

I am a prisoner too, and most seasons love the prison life.

Just visited the Steckel boat ramp, the river is largely open from there going north, not at all south of Steckel.

That's 24-25 miles of river ice that still needs to melt before they will push out the ramps in Bismarck. I am guessing it will be sometime around the middle of next week before Merriwether boat ramp is usable. The river should start losing 2-4 river miles of ice per day over the coming week.

Note, the Steckel ramp is still not usable. There's a 20 ft, or more ribbon of ice on the east shore, including the ramp.

Drove across the interstate bridge today. The ice looks like it’s ready to pop. If it stays frozen until early next week that could slow things down. But after the cold snap we might be seeing 60’s. Might.

Didn't have the best view westbound over the bridge at 60 mph but sure looked like somebody pushed ice off the ramp at Washburn. Dock was not in. River is wide open.

Its why its the best place in the state to live, there is no fishing "downtime". Put away the ice gear and hop directly in the boat! In the fall, put the boat away and hop directly on the ice.
Yeah, but we’re way more diverse and inclusive over here. Which means we’re stronger by definition. 💪🏻

Bismarck centennial beach ramp (below I94) was open this afternoon. Dock not in yet, and bridges holding some ice jam so you might no get far today.

Still loads of ice in town but should start cleaning up with forecast for the next 7 days. Ice jam really stacked up some huge piles on sand bars and all along the shore. Going to be dodging floaters the first few trips. Won't be long!
