That cop doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.... page 34 and 35, section 6-08-05 subsection 2, specifically 2c....

You should contact officers supervisor and tell them that officer needs some more training on the subject.

If I'm legally permitted to own and possess a firearm, and I'm allowed to have a loaded shotgun or rifle in the vehicle, why wouldn't I be able to have an unloaded shotgun or rifle in the vehicle...

AG states now that a valid ND drivers License essentially counts as a CC permit as long as one is not otherwise prohibited from owning a firearm...

Question i have -- can i drive down a gravel road in ND (not in the city limits) going to my hunting spot with my shotgun laying over on the passenger side with 2 shells in the magazine -- and i do not have a CC permit. I am just joe plumber and all i own is a shotgun rifle and 4 wheel drive.

Can someone answer this question?

ND: hide them good while within in bigger city limits, pull the blankets/jackets off when out..
MN: have them in gun case ALWAYS.. I have never brought guns into that state, but had a buddy have a couple confiscated for sitting next to him.
Prepare yourself before city limits and never have a piece showing whatsoever in the case of a petty pullover..

shorthairs, If you are not otherwise prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm (felony conviction, violent crime conviction etc...), your ND Drivers license essentially qualifies as a CC Permit in the state of ND. Your good to go. No worries.

Was driving through MN years ago , I'd guess 1983- maby 4 or 5 gun rack in the back window with two guns in it and putting on diesel at a gas station and some guy drove up and told me to take them down. It was against the law in MN way back then.

7 days a week and twice on Sundays as long as you don't have one in the pipe.. Hell, you can shoot a coyote out the window if you're off the highway..

Lycanthrope, I agree with Petras. You need to contact the law enforcement office. What if the officer made the wrong decision based off of what he believed was the law, identifying you as a criminal feeling threatened to point of using deadly force? Extreme situation, but possible.

and I have always thought it was law that if pulled over first thing you have to do is tell the cop you have a firearm in the vehicle?

with the new ND carry law yes. Unless it has changed with a cc permit you do not have to tell them unless asked although it is recommended you do so

I own a benelli and you can have one in mag and one in "no man's land". Asked the game warden if this was considered in the chamber. The answer was technically no. Asked if I would be cited. Answer no.
