I've always been a Sakakawea guy. Van Hook area especially. But, want to expand my horizons. Anyone have some suggestions for hitting up the DL?

My sister and fam live in Cando. So I have no excuse to get my butt out there and learn it.

I'm going over in May for the first time ever. Have never had a reason to go there because fishing on Sak has always been pretty decent. But this year I'm going to go so I can say I went.

Early in the year is pretty easy. Fish the bays and fish the windy shorelines. Pitch cranks or plastics. Slip bobbering with leeches is also good.

Any time in June - slip bobber with a jumbo leech hooked wacky style. You'll catch all the fish you could want. Pitching cranks or jig/plastics tends to produce a bit bigger fish.
