A video with some great points about the topic. Sad to see the double standards and economy killing policies.

- - - Updated - - -

If it doesn't come from Canada, it comes from Venezuela? Does anyone know anything about this comment made by the Canadian in the vid?

The Canadian official is right. These refineries need heavy oil like what Canada produces. If they can’t get it from Canada they will have to get it from OPEC nations like Saudi, Russia, and Venezuela. We need heavy oil in this country because we need the heavy ends for asphalt that we use on roads. Without heavy oil we will need more concrete roads at higher costs and at a higher carbon footprint. Our economy can’t be fueled with only US domestic production.

Generally speaking I would agree with you. But they aren’t going to shut down a multi billion dollar pipeline that is directly related to thousands of jobs. Especially when it’s common sense that pipelines are far safer than rail. Then add in the fact there are several pipelines crossing the same body of water. Then add in the fact they don’t even get their water from that river anymore. Then add in the fact it’s 100 times more technically superior to the existing lines under that water. And you can bet many politicians are invested in DAPL.

Totally FALSE This is NOT a fact. The FACT is the intake is downstream in Lake Oahe, right at their campground in Mobridge. Same body of water WAAAAAAYYYYYYYY down stream.

I stand corrected. But big deal. That’s a damn long ways away. And they pull from the bottom of the lake and the oil if it would get that far floats. Non factor

Hmmm, I wonder why that wouldn't be running? I'm guessing lack of maintenance like everything else around here. Apathy and incompetence is the standard norm. At ALL levels, mostly at the top.

I'm sorry....but as long as the Standing Rock Tribe continues to fight against the DAPL, non-tribal members need support Prairie Outhouse Casino on the hill. It wouldn't hurt my feeling at all if that place closes at all. I used to go there several times a year for fun and concerts...but since DAPL protest...nope, notta, no way, get out of here, "I don't think so Tim", "what you talking about Willis", you kidding me! Obummer....I mean Obama gave them guidelines to protest when he came to ND and flew down there and met with the tribal leaders to tell them to protest like hell and he wouldn't do anything to stop it.

It didnt run the first two years i was built as there was no storage tank and then when that was done there was no where to ship the water as there were no lines ran yet. Just finished a pump station north of mclaughlin last fall to finally start moving more water to communities. Incompetence to have a plan in place is kinda the feeling i got

John Kerry just admits that %90 of carbon emissions come from outside of the US...so why are we killing American jobs in the name of climate change?

I hope you 'never-Trumpers' are hanging your heads reeeaaall low right now. You just got duped! And we are are paying for it.

Wait so you guys are saying the water from Mobridge intake is still not getting to Standing Rock, even though it was supposedly complete in 2017 and a ceremony was held at Yates?

“Construction of the Water Treatment Plant, the new water intake near Mobridge, South Dakota, and many miles of pipe, ensures safe, clean and reliable drinking water for the people of Standing Rock,” said Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman, Dave Archambault.
A public Valve-Turning Ceremony to celebrate this major milestone of the project was held August 24, 2017, in front of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Rural Water Office in Fort Yates, North Dakota.

DAPL could be forced to shutdown if this “environmental impact statement” states that this pipeline will lead to harm to the environment. Having to consider the effects of climate change in the approval of these projects is a scary precedent. I’m not sure how judges can say that we must consider climate change when there is no legislation that even mandates it in the review. Big oil and their politicians will have no control if a radical judge rules against them,

they already did. And appealed that and won. Ultimately it’ll end up at the Supreme Court regardless. That doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy but if dip shit was afraid or riots during the election legal fight he better be afraid to rule to have the pipeline shut down

The attack on our being energy independent is just beginning.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...ing-on-public-lands/ar-BB1d98n8?ocid=msedgntp

Biden has already issued an executive order rejoining the Paris Agreement, an international treaty on climate change, and his administration is expected to undo a host of anti-climate rules enacted under Trump covering emissions, such as methane, that contribute to global warming.
The League of Conservation Voters applauded the plan, describing it as a "whole of government approach that puts bold climate action, clean energy, and environmental justice at the heart of their domestic and foreign policy agenda."
“Congress must complement these executive actions with bold legislation that puts our economy on a path to recovery by making transformative investments in healthy, equitable, safe communities powered by clean energy," the organization said in a statement.
But Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, who is set to become the top Republican on the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, called Biden's orders "divisive and illegal."
“Despite all the hot air from climate alarmists, banning new oil, gas, and coal leases on federal land and waters will do nothing to address climate change," Barrasso said. "Energy producers will simply go elsewhere – likely out of state or overseas."

That was probably right i think the plant was done in 2013 ish and then the big storage tank on the hill in 15 ish then the following years pipe to some places was laid as the no dapl guys tried to hassle them till they found out it was water lines. the pump house in mclaughlin was last year and more pipe is to be laid with another pump house going to be built . So in a convoluted was the answer is yes and no.....

If you will notice I highlighted in blue League of Conservation Voters. We do not have a State chapter but Montana does. Here is what they have to say about shuttering the USA energy sector.

https://mtvoters.org/newsroom/mcv-white-house-orders-a-giant-leap-in-the-right-direction/

MCV: White House orders ‘a giant leap in the right direction’Organization praises climate, energy and conservation policies that protect land and water, fight climate breakdown, prioritize jobs

(BOZEMAN, Mont.) – Whitney Tawney, Executive Director of Montana Conservation Voters, released the following statements in response to President Joe Biden’s executive orders today to “tackle the climate crisis at home and abroad,” including a moratorium on new oil and gas leases on federal public lands or offshore waters:
“After four years of disastrous decisions from Washington, we desperately need to take ambitious steps to protect our environment, our climate and our public lands for all Americans, our kids and future generations,” Tawney said. “The President’s actions are a giant leap in the right direction. These orders prioritize job creation by investing in infrastructure needed to fight climate breakdown, they deliver environmental justice, and they put science and common sense back into the decision-making process.”

So who is Whitney Tawney?

She used to work for Ducks Unlimited and more importantly she has a brother. Land Tawney who is also against domestic energy.

ARCTIC REFUGE DEVELOPMENT DELAYED UNDER ADMINISTRATION ORDER

Biden administration orders temporary moratorium on oil and gas development in the refuge, heeding the call of hunters and anglers, outdoor businesses, others

MISSOULA, Mont. – The wildlife-rich coastal plain within Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge has been temporarily placed off-limits to oil and gas development under an executive order issued last night by the Biden administration.
The administration’s decision heeds the calls of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers members, supporters and partners, who have consistently urged decision-makers to utilize the best available science and avoid pursuing development in sensitive wildlife habitat across Alaska’s Arctic regions.
“Few places better embody ‘America’s last frontier’ than the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a bucket list destination for sportsmen and women all over North America that supports robust populations of fish and game and is a mainstay of indigenous subsistence communities,” said BHA President and CEO Land Tawney.
“BHA members have engaged for over a decade to conserve this irreplaceable habitat and the hunting and fishing opportunities it provides,” Tawney continued. “We thank President Biden for his quick work in responding to our requests and ensuring the long-term conservation of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge."
Alaska’s Arctic is a diverse region of landscapes that ranges northward to the coast of the Arctic Ocean. Within that region, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge encompasses 19.3 million acres, the largest in the National Wildlife Refuge System, and the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska covers roughly 23.6 million acres, making it the single largest undisturbed tract of public land in the United States.
In December, 20 businesses and organizations sent a letter to congressional and administrative leaders emphasizing the importance of Alaska’s Arctic North to fish and wildlife as well as hunters and anglers.

Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the voice
for our wild public lands, waters and wildlife.

I know for sure that the Tribes intake in Mobridge is pumping water to Fort Yates, and has been for a few years.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...ing-on-public-lands/ar-BB1d98n8?ocid=msedgntp

Bingo

This White House has been compromised by big oil companies trying to wreck our oil companies.

NOT A TREATY! The Treaty Clause empowers the President to make or enter into treaties ONLY with the "advice and consent" of at least two-thirds of the Senate. Obama didn't get treaty approval and neither did Trump or Biden. The Paris Agreement is just an "accord" approved by this administration and has little or no binding requirements on the US.

but it sat idle for a few years while the storage tank was getting built and then the lines put in the intake was done in 12 begging of 13. I spent lots of days freezing my ass off pouring concrete with contractors from minnesota that were assholes to work with

I don't doubt that one bit, but they discontinued the intake here, it's all shut off. It was behind schedule, of course, but we've been getting water form Mobridge intake for a while now. And I'm not sure but would guess that they haven't piped it all the way out west yet.

I hope you 'never-Trumpers' are hanging your heads reeeaaall low right now.

Same goes for “only trumpers”. We literally could’ve ran a toaster against Joe Biden and won. Any legit moderate candidate would’ve walked away with it. All trump had to do was shut up for two months and let Joe talk but the egotistical shit head couldn’t shut up. Then he kept talking and lost the Senate. I voted for him because I had to but known a whoooooooole bunch of people who couldn’t swallow hard enough. At some point trump lovers are going to have to swallow the fact it was a Trump loss and not a democrat win. That or double down and get used to these terrible policies for generations to come.

edit: I know the next move is to argue my sentence about trump losing with the rigged election stuff. Please save your breathe. It shouldn’t have even been close enough to “rig”
