I've had this conversation with a Game Warden. I told him I am carrying a sidearm no matter what due to moose being in the area and I'm not depending on my child to react to that kind of danger if one comes at us. He just stared at me for a few seconds and then walked away.

I would also stare at you and shake my head a little and go on my way.

It would be teaching the youth that you have a right to bear arms and it shall not be infringed upon. Period.
Wrong, it teaches them breaking the law is an ok thing to do. The proclamation states the no carry. Why make it about "you" when its for the introduction of the youth to the hunting world, can't you at least give them that opportunity without bending your ego ? OUT ! ! !

Can you explain why? Can't they be a dangerous animal? Wasn't there a story of a game warden getting trampled by one years ago? I'm sorry, but I'd rather be safe than sorry and me carrying a sidearm while deer hunting with my youth children is causing no harm. It is also my responsibility as a parent to keep my children safe.

Minnesota?

This was Pollert in SE ND a “few” years ago.

You better worry about it if you don’t want a ticket! He let me off with a warning. I’ve been checked by him numerous times back in the day. Some people complain about him. He’s always been fair and professional with me. Don’t break the law and you won’t have any problems. Pretty simple
Dont break the law pretty simple. What if the law is unjust, wicked, or immoral, a violation of liberty? Now its not so simple drawing such a line.

You’re preaching to the choir.

Nevertheless, you get in trouble. I’ve been in trouble many times 😊

I'm just saying, it's the law.

Note: Each youth must be accompanied (must be able to have unaided verbal contact) by at least one unarmed parent, guardian, or adult authorized by their parent or guardian during the Youth Deer season. All non-licensees are prohibited from carrying a firearm or bow while accompanying a Youth Deer licensee hunting in the field during the Youth Deer season. A non-licensee is a person not having a Youth Deer license.

Sitting in a stand in MN right now...quit counting at 50 shots. Two bucks n two does spotted. No shot opportunities. Thank goodness for enclosed blinds...she'd be a bit cold sitting all day without them.
