Whats up everyone!

So every spring when I take a turkey, one of my favorite meals is deep fried gizzard. I was just thinking of how many gizzards I've thrown away from ducks I've shot in the past.

Anyone eat them? I'll be giving it a try the next time I'm out.

I cooked up a pile a few years ago. Cleaned them really good. Fried them quick in butter and seasoning.

There were OK. Weird texture. Flavor was fine. If you're a gizzard fan, I'm sure you'd find them palatable.

Couple times a year I get a package of chicken hearts and gizzards and always cook up turkey gizz and hearts when roasting a turkey,good eats,but ducks? I''ll wait for your report.

We used to do it all the time with larger mallards. I haven't had one for awhile now but if if I remember they weren't that much different than a turkey gizzard.

We've done them from our tame ducks. Split em, remove the sand, trim the yellow part off with a fillet knife and boil them for an hour or more to tenderize. Sometimes we season the water. Then bread and deep fry. The boiling is jey.

Just a thought, have you ever tried boiling them in beef stock/broth?

I don't eat any part of any webbed footed critter but I'll use chicken or beef broth to add flavor rather than boiling in water.

Same here, I love them. After reading this thread I realize I'm almost due, Wife doesn't like them so I am on my own, I'll be watching this thread for ideas.

Collect them from all the birds we shoot and at the end of the fall have a gizzard feed. Waterfowl gizzards are not much different from other gizzards but you can't peel them like upland gizzards, you have to cut the muscle of each side of the sack.

My kids all love grilled hearts. Have had dove, duck, goose, pheasant, sharpies, huns and deer. I enjoy watching my 2nd grade age daughter tell others about the tastiness of heart.

Pic of duck gizzards we made. Cut muscle from sack. Boiled with some garlic for an hour. Might have been more. Lost track while making tomato juice. I refrigerated overnight then egg wash, shore lunch and fried. They are tender and tasty morsels.

The walleye cheeks of duck.....thanks for posting results! Unnecessary to show off the fancy Bounty paper towels though....make a guy feel bad for buying Kirkland!
