Exercise Bike??

I need to find a way to keep my legs limber during the winter so come next summer, they still can run around the bases. I was thinking maybe an exercise bike would be a good, non-impact option but I do not know anything about them. If I spent 20-30 minutes on it every other day, would that be beneficial? What kind should I get? Is there a better alternative when it's -20 degrees? Thanks.

Don't know much about them, but we have a couple of Schwinn Airdynes and no complaints about them at all. A treadmill also would be good.

If you already have a bike get a trainer and a slick tire for the back. Way cheaper and it keeps your ass bones in shape for the summer rides

Get a trainer. If you have a bike you should be able to mount your bike to it. Cost is much cheaper

I have bad knees and the best low impact that I have found is an elliptical. The rehab I went to had two bikes, four treadmills and six ellipticalls. They worked me 80% on the ellipticals. Rehab was for the heart, but I told them I had three knee scopes in the past.

I like elipticals as well, but you need high ceilings unless you are really short.

i know people who really like the peleton bikes. Hard part is using it harder part is eating right which will make a bigger difference

I have a really nice Weslo bike I would sell for what I paid for it-$50. I bought it a couple years ago when I had my knee replacement surgery. It worked great to keep my leg muscles in shape and my knee flexible until I could start putting weight on the knee. It's surprising how quick you can run out of gas spinning one of these. Also surprising how fast you can increase you stamina if you use it consistently. This bike has all the buzzers and bells: scan, speed distance, time, odometer, calories, pulse. The seat and resistance adjust. It's no Peleton but it's cheap exercise when the weather outside is crappy. PM me if you're interested.

Just bought a Bowflex HVT. It's hard to imagine you could get a better full body workout with any machine. A little spendy but it's easy to use and will kick your butt if you want to work that hard.

I think they recommend 15 inches higher than the tallest user. I've had it for a week and used it everyday for about 20 minutes. There's three pre-programmed workouts and an app that will get you 50 more plus a manual mode. There's 16 resistance setting and I've been using it on 4-5 and can tell you 20 minutes kicks your ass. I'm not in great shape right now. Ran a half marathon in January and was training for a full but had a hip injury and I'm just getting back into things but I really like this machine.

I've had a bowflex home gym and bowflex dumbbells. I think this is their best machine by far. A person probably won't put on much bulk with it but for overall body fitness and endurance I think this is definitely the way to go. Combine it with some running or hiking with a pack and you should be ready for most anything.
