Dangit. Just used up the last of the carrots from last fall. Crisp and as delicious to the last day. Amazing. Now to do it all over again.

For those ordering seeds, I have a niece that does that, IN January. Why because they are 20 percent off then. i'm pretty sure it was Gurney but I'll have to check. How you can be so organized in getting the garden ready in January (at least the ordering) up here is beyond me. But she does it somehow.

And in my working days, I often wondered why those damn seed catalogs came out in January and with 20% off. Suppose they want to get some of their customers/work load out of the way then vs piing it all up in one or two months.

SL That names doesn't ring a bell . I've always admired the garden just south of the Stare Park entrance on the East side of the road. Year after year that has always been one of the nicest gardens in the hills.

That's Rick and Connie Irey. They are my neighbors across the road. He's originally from Newburg. She was the manager at Quilt Inn and they were one of the owners of the A Frame. The A Frame sold last year and Connie retired from Quilt Inn so they are completely retired now. They spend winters in Ft. Meyers, FL.

Just sowed in the early season greens. And spinach to replace the fall plantings. Have to mow today too, grass is getting shaggy. Should have been turkey hunting instead but oh well!

Onions and carrots going in midweek and potatoes on weekend along with starting tomatoes and peppers indoors. Let-her rip. Finely get some dirt under my finger nails.

Burned down the asparagus patch without the rural fire department showing up. It creates an intense quick burning fire. Water hose is a must. I learned the hard way. Once.

Just cut so you have 2 good eyes and then let air dry for 4 or 5 days before you plant. The cut part need to form a dry skin so they don't rot. After I started doing this I got a lot better germination.

What variety of tomatoes are you guys using for salsa? We made a bunch last year and it turned out great, but I'd like to try some other varieties.

Romas have less juice and seeds. They cook down quicker so that the salsa is thicker.

So have any of you ever run across something like this while opening a seed packet? These were all supposed to be Mammoth sunflowers which is a brand of confectionery flower. So needless to say the second I opened the bag this Dakota boy went ...."Houston we have a problem" for confectionery sunflowers should never be hanging out with oil seeds and the package that is geared towards one specific genus.

P.S, don't mind the pumpkin seeds they got mixed later.

Has anyone transplanted wild asparagus? I know where a bunch is but I would like to have some on my land so I can have it right in my backyard.
