I'm all for profit and capitalism....but I think that shipped sailed in the health care industry years ago when the government started "helping".

Mine, thru my employer, costs $1,240 a month or $14K a year. No dental or vision. I doubt we even had $1,000 worth of claims this year, like most years, so they are making big coin off us. I did get to pay out of pocket for 2 fillings the other day though, $500, that was neat. I would have much rather bought me a new, top of the line, ice auger for that 1 hour of dental work.

But some of that "large amount" would come into your paycheck if the cost of insurance was less. We have grown so accustomed to this arrangement that we don't even realize that anymore. 100% of my premium is paid by my employer but I don't consider my health insurance "free".

The medical part of things is so vague, I worked in the industry for 36 years, know more than the average Joe. Government intervention is key here, second is lawyers practicing medicine, that my friends is the real reason medical prices have gone up. Plus technology has changed people that would have died 20 years ago are very much alive today. Dullpimple cost me my job because of bureaucratic bullshit and being lame duck, appointing a aboard of egomaniacal, to a position of authority saying my military training wasn't good enough for them anymore. I repeat been doing it for 36 years, no complaints. But this board is putting the screws to small Hospitals. Ok rant almost over still get pissed discussing this.

Medical prices have went up due to monsterous overhead. Take a look around. I dont believe that many lawyers are getting that fat and why because I don't believe that much malpractice is going on. The procedures r done over and over and let's face it we're not the leader in trying new things. Way overpriced. So
