This past week I lost a very close friend who took his own life (PTSD). This was a longtime friend that I grew up with hunting pretty much every weekend with. The same person who has built 2 ARs for me as well. I'm going to do a tribute paint job on my new .20 tactical which we took prairie dog hunting together just 3 weeks ago today.
My next idea is the one that I need help with. Growing up our main hunting was geese which we did as soon as we were able to get out hunting on the ATVs until he left for the army. My wife and I have decided to do a tribute goose mount. I'm in the process of brainstorming ideas at this time looking for a good mount. I'm thinking a sleeping goose mount (wall mounted) with a good size piece of drift wood that could be engraved and possible a picture mounted into the wood. I'm also thinking of having a neck band or leg band engraved with his dog tag information. My other idea is a good hanging upside down from a fence post with the same leg band or neck band or both.
I'm looking for other ideas from members at this time that I could possibly use or if anyone has any other goose mounting ideas I'm still just brainstorming as I still need to get out and harvest a bird. I'm going to try to wait for the October season to shoot a bird that is fully feathered rather than the early season birds.
