I was on mission and coming home when I got a call from my wife that she was parked on the road in front of our house looking at one of our good up and comer 4X4 bucks. ;:;banghead;:;banghead;:;banghead He'd lost a fight with a fast moving Chevy and was in a bad way. We called the sheriff and finished what the vehicle had started, but it was NOT the way I wanted to be welcomed home. We've been watching this deer for a month or so now and have tons of pics and hours of visual time with him. Would've been a good deer had he lived. Anyway, we got the tag and salvaged what we could and the meat will be going to a local family. I'm not trying to be overly melancholy, but I just thought this deer was worthy of mention as many a good buck goes down, unknown and unappreciated in a similar way.

Here is a sample of what we were fortunate enough to enjoy watching........

I think the silver lining outshines the cloud on this one. Very cool that you were there in time to end its misery and salvage the bounty.

LOL!! Based on the pieces of grill, headlights, and radiator fluid on the road, I'd have to agree!!!

I would have done the same cept calling the warden of course...as that is about as helpful as calling the fbi if your water heater is on the fritz.
