They cancelled in Jamestown at 6AM. Smart call IMO.

I don't disagree. My wife was cussing like a sailor when she didnt see BPS in the closings for today. Now they're going to have issues getting kids home. Most can't get released if there isn't a parent at home.

With all the hype over the last three days about this big storm. I was a little disappointed this morning when I got up and thought I would see at least 6 to 8 inches of snow, and we only had a half inch of slush on the streets. Bring on the snow, we need the moisture.

I may be somewhat old but not that old as the girls you picture in their bathing suits Mathew.

Yes it started as I remember on Saturday and in Fargo the grocery store with beer was close and no matter the age and yes besides guys there were women.

For women it was the start of their liberation from the former years with all the restriction society had on them(and NDSU thought if they lock them up at 10:00 the boys would stay at home (in Fargo yea right). The college girls had a taste of the good life already.
They were college kids away from home just like all of us.

And for some they were what you might say a little bit more open to things that a lot of us farm boys were. Some could drink more also so some did outlast a few of us farm boys. But God love those times of burning the bras (maybe that got popular later on, but it did start somewhere, I like to think it was at the AC with all those Home ED major girls. db-2

In Fargo for knee replacement surgery tomorrow morning and had 5-6 this morning and could be interesting getting to surgery in the morning. Heavy wet snow and still coming down and blowing hard now and news said another 5-8 possible today . Good time to be laid up from a surgery;:;banghead

Was just outside in NW Bismarck and where the wind isn't blowing the snow, we have 5-6 inches. Snowing hard and the wind is crazy.

Just curious, if the ECWMF is a better model, why is the NWS always so hesitant to believe it? I constantly read their discussion notes and it seems like they’re super conservative about buying into it?

I don't know if I would necessarily call it "better", it does have differences though. I think the better way to characterize it though is that at any given point in time, the mets looking at the models tend to prefer one over the other because, well...that's their professional take on things and what they get paid to do. So you will see the GFS being favored one week, with the ECWMF being the favorite the following based on recent history of getting storm tracks/timing/amounts closer than the GFS. They also have "blends" which combine different models, in looking at those you tend to get an idea of why WPC may have a slightly broader paintbrush than local forecasts.

In my humble experiences with the two most popular models, I don't really have a favorite either. In general I just like to say that all models are wrong, but they are useful in understanding possible outcomes, and even then I still prefer blonde models the most.

LOL, yep. I really try hard not to though.

I am not talking about you Allen! Lol It is every person on social media that said this morning the weatherman is wrong. I replied that if the wind blows from the east for 3 days we are going to get stomped on just wait!

Not as wicked here as the made it sound...where they hell is it?? I remember the storm of 97 here shut the town down for 3 days, road the snowmobile up and down the street, 4 wheel drive could only get down some streets, lot of people with small cars and two wheel drive getting stuck, we'd get them unstuck and tell them to get their ass back home and stay off the street, I'm just waiting for the wind to pick up real bad, slow day here at work so far

Glen must have thought the same thing , Did you see what he said to Amber this morning ?

Who said what to Amber? I must have missed it watching or listening this morning while getting ready for work.

WE have been fairly lucky here in the SW. Only a couple inches so far, but the wind is howling pretty good. Darn lights are flickering, so hopefully power stays on.

I think Kurtr is sending it our way. We aren't done by any stretch of the imagination. So far though, Bismarck has been fortunate. I think the airport has only registered about 3.5 inches as of 1:00 this afternoon. Snow in the wind is a really tricky thing to get right tho.
