6ft of frozen rock hard dirt, don't think it's going to soak in very fast, my forecast for Sat. night thru Tues. is, what ever is coming is coming, piss on the weather service forecast
Soil is frozen temp wise, but is so dry there isn't much Frost bridging. Water should infiltrate pretty well. I was soil sampling until December 21 or 22nd (whenever all that snow hit) this year.

I was out ridging snow yesterday and a bunch of mud followed me home and tracked around the yard, Thawing on top under the snow.

Same here, but no apartment and no female companionship. There was beer though, the Bluebird grocery store had offsale beer in back, if you could reach high enough to put money on the counter you could buy.

Likewise I was a junior at UND. I stayed in a fraternity house 1-1/2 blocks off University Ave. On Saturday University was the only street plowed. One of our members lived in GF and his father had a 4 wheeled drive pickup. He drove out in the afternoon and took 2 others with him and picked up 3 kegs and a half dozen cases (24 beers) and brought them back to our street. We threw them out on top of the plowed snow bank and then used the Christian Center's toboggan to haul them up to the house and partied all Saturday afternoon/evening and Sunday until we ran out. I even remember some of the partying!

I am sick of the hype that each storm brings. I'm about ready to stop watching/ looking at forecasts all together.

Had some bad ones, but nothing too bad. Iā€™m still young. I remember 96. Bismarck was shut down for a couple days, but somehow the MFers at the tribune were able to print and get papers dropped off at the house. City is shut down and I still have to deliver papers. It took hours. I remember wearing ski goggles.

My earliest memories were in the late 80s when there was extreme drought and heat in ND in the summer. At that stage in human development, stuff like that leaves an indelible mark. I now understand why my grandparents who grew up during the depression never throw out food.

Anyway, to this day I always love moisture, even while Iā€™m throwing sandbags in the rain. I feel like Scrooge Mcduck swimming in his money pit. Bring on the moist. My body is ready.

I would love to see the European model because the two on pivotal are dropping back with Bismarck getting 8.9 to 9.5 inches and being one of the hardest hit. But at the same time the NWS is throttling up with a big area of 12 to 16 along and east of the river so clearly someone is seeing something very different here.

I still remember the week in the early summer of 93 where we finally broke the back of the drought..... and in True North Dakota style went straight to flooding. It was amazing for me since we moved to Bismarck in 1990 and I much prefer ducks to pheasants and so as a little kid I was stuck with hunting nothing but the stuff around the mcclusky Canal because it was about the only shit that had water left in it anywhere near town. That summer is probably the reason I still like MacKenzie slew because I still remember how amazed I was when that giant ass thing suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I had walked it many times for pheasants then suddenly it was this giant marsh filled with ducks.....And eventually people.

If we were going to get 16 or 12 or even 8 or 9 it would have to actually start snowing

Living in the donut hole this morning so far but by the looks of radar that's going to change in about an hour.

schools did close --- i think the only reason was to take those pushy women off the streets -- they make the most stress on the way to work - what time do they drop off their kids- 6A?

11hp Ariens at lowest crawl speed could barely keep up with the heavy sticky snow in Fargo - it occasionally plowed rather than clear

I remember dealing with this snotty stuff with a shovel back in the day

thank the Lord I have a blower

Maybe an inch of snow so far in Bismarck. Roads are slick though. Dropped off the last payment for fancy feast and headed to work to cancel out what looks to be my entire day. Bismarck schools stayed open so things are steady as she goes. We'll see how the rest of the day plays out.
