March Blizzards

Found this model run interesting for Bismarck as we sat in the warm side for an extended period but then in the course of one frame jumped to damn near 9 inches. Definitely showing an east west bias running in that Jamestown Devil's Lake run area but still too far out to really get a good grip on it.

6ft of frozen rock hard dirt, don't think it's going to soak in very fast, my forecast for Sat. night thru Tues. is, what ever is coming is coming, piss on the weather service forecast

Storm must of blew apart and the wheels fell off it. Ventsky model was only showing a couple inches yesterday It snowed here Friday night and East wind blew like crazy yesterday and warm enough to stick to the roads and make a mess.

NWS put us in a winter storm warning starting at 6 this evening. 8 to 13 inches here with light freezing drizzle and or rain before the snow starts with winds to 35 mph. They say its supposed to last until Tuesday afternoon.

Goes to show no one can accurately predict these spring storms! I have never seen storm totals jump around or vary so much. Last night the blizzard warning was in the NW and now it is in the SW south of Dickinson and Bismarck. CRAZY! ;:;banghead

The wind with this thing has always been down in SD for the most part where it could get as high as 65 but doesn't go much north of the border thus the southern warning where enough of the snow overlaps with enough of the wind to cause a problem.

Having eye surgery tue morn in fargo, could be a very interesting trip in because of 7/15 appointment and an hour and a half drive in when the weather is good. Looks like a 4 am wake up call.

Oh OK! I know the western part of the state is going to get started me serious winds. But with this fog and moisture in the air, I can see SW NoDak getting some decent snow amounts. Good luck to all the ranchers who are calving.

So did a lot of icehouses come off yesterday? Any fishing reports?

I saw that too! Last name got that Emilie Hielman (?) on KFYR had 4 models on the screen briefly, but only showed the GFS. The European map still showed western and central getting hit. Now they show us getting nothing according to their map yet they are flashing 6-10”. It’s says 31 degrees out all morning, but still heavy mist, which is melting the existing snow band ice. I would be OK with just rain, just so the powerlines don’t thicken up with ice. Need it to get cold fast when it does.

Kind of a letdown , I spent the better part of yesterday preparing for it . :;: sort of but I don't mind a good storm once in a while , It's good for the soul to be reminded who is in charge.

Nothing here yet but temps starting to drop and wind picking up . We are right at 30* so hopefully we get the white stuff.

Last thing I saw from the National weather service was snow starting Monday morning and still dropping 8-11 inches in the Bismarck area by Tuesday. That would be nasty with the winds they’re talking about yet
