I had 2 pp and got the big game combo (deer&elk) . From here on out I’ll be going into the random 0 pp draw

Went a little different route this year since it's no longer a guarantee to draw a big game combo tag, I went with the Outfitter Preference which was another 200 bucks but it's a pretty much a slam dunk that you will draw and we did.

I wonder how many will do the outfitter PP deal, hunt elk with their outfitter then go back hunting deer on their own late season sans outfitter and get nipped? As I understand it, if you're afield for elk/deer in MT w/an outfitter sponsored extra PP license, you have to be afield WITH the outfitter.

Yup you would be correct, if you go this route you NEED to be hunting with an outfitter.

I should probably start hunting MT since it'll be 10 yrs for deer to recover out in western ND.

How does it work? Draw a tag and just start driving around MT until you see a shooter?

Congrats . That permit can be drawn pretty easy with a couple points . 410 has a lot of elk and a lot of bulls and a shit ton of hunters . The bulls you will see will be mainly 230-260” 6 points . With all the pressure getting a true trophy will be tough but good luck it’s a great hunt
