So you compared LaVoy Finnicum to Clyde Barrow who killed several people while robbing banks and accused LaVoy Finnicum of using women as human shields and seemingly would have no issues with law enforcement killing an 18 year old innocent girl as collateral damage even though no one in the vehicle she was in had ever fired a shot or threatened law enforcement with a fire arm. .

Pretty much like CNN and MSNBC you make accusations and insinuations without knowing the truth knowing that others not willing ot learn the truth or willing ot acknowledge the truth will not question what you claim.

Perhaps you did not bother to learn that LaVoy Finnicum is highly respected within his community by those that actually know him.

Perhaps you did not know that he and his wife have taken in several troubled kids and raised them as foster parents and was highly spoke of by the social workers that placed these kids.

Perhaps you did not know that LaVoy Finnicum had never been given so much as a speeding ticket and had a respect for Constitutional law enforcement like the sheriff he was going to see when he was killed.

Perhaps you did not know that both women in that car have since said that they beleive they are alive because LaVoy left the pickup ending the rounds being fired into it.

Perhaps you did not know that the reason Victoria Sharp was even in the pickup becasue like most 18 year old girls she took too long getting ready and as such did not leave when her family left earlier.

Perhaps as there is no real accountability for making wild accusations on the internet those things do not matter to you.

It is my thought that LaVoy in his passion for our Constitution understood the sacrifices made by those Founders that fought for and helped write it including the ultimate one of their life in some cases.

I believe he came to a conclusion in his mind that he would be willing to make that sacrifice himself in an effort to ignite a cause to return this nation to it's Constitutional roots. That was his choice and I for one will not condemn him for believing this nation must return to it's Constitutional roots and I will try to inform people with the truth and fact of what is happening so that the loss of his life is not for nothing.

So you go ahead and stand by your decision to make that fools comparison and accusation/insinuation and I'll stand by mine.

As I previously said another good road crossing the Little Missouri is reasonable. Letting the state build anywhere they want isn't reasonable. This doesn't have to be an all or nothing situation.

This article in the Drudge report is an example of the same, but at lower levels. Cities that are very liberal are trying to defy state government. Most conservatives would say withhold any funding to these cities. Then on the other hand some will cry "states rights" when they want to defy federal government. State law should have the capability to keep cities from going completely off the reason reservation, and likewise federal government should be able to keep states from going completely off the reason reservation. We are either the United States or the disunited States. There must be some middle ground between nut job global warming, and the idea that Roundup in your GMO cornflakes is good for you. We don't need the Forest Service closing roads, nor do we need a road on every section line.

Yes, and you have to ask some questions. What are these taxes for? They are for schools, roads, etc. So who lives on this land that needs schooling? Nobody. Who lives on this land that needs roads? Again nobody. States and counties like federal gov can't get enough money so they go after the Fed gov as if those tax dollars are magic and don't cost anyone. I think they get something like 75%. 25% would be more than fair. Ironicly people who say they are conservative will say they are owed it. No they are not.

Our nation was founded on the principle that our government is of the people, by the people, for the people. In that light, it is time for the people to have their say on the proposed withdrawal of mineral leases on more than one-quarter of a million acres of federal lands in the Rainy River Watershed.

The U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management soon will hold a public meeting in Virginia to gather public input on this crucial issue. The hope is local citizens deliver a clear, understandable message: Stop strangling Northeast Minnesota’s economic lifeblood with bureaucratic tape and allow our rich mining heritage to continue evolving on the Iron Range.

The stall tactics and fear-mongering amount to a direct attack on mining in Minnesota and the good people of the Iron Range. The federal government’s proposed withdrawal of leases for mineral exploration and development not only would have a chilling effect on northeastern Minnesota’s economy, but could destroy our local communities to the point of forcing families who have lived and worked here generations to leave — resulting in a barren region of ghost towns.

Equally disturbing is the federal government’s action will severely devalue an education funding program that has been in place since the mid-1800s to support our children’s education.

More than 150 years ago, the federal government set aside land in states — or in Minnesota’s case, when it was still a territory — for the specific purpose of providing revenue for our K-12 public education system.

In Minnesota, minerals management in Northeast Minnesota has historically generated the largest portion of funds that go annually into the state’s school trust fund, with iron ore and taconite mineral leases and mining the largest contributors.

Minnesota has very valuable school trust lands within the Rainy River Watershed, including some in close proximity to the federal Twin Metals mineral leases the federal government already has refused to renew without providing good cause for their action.

Withdrawal by the federal government of mineral leases on federal lands within the Rainy River Watershed seriously devalues the school trust lands in the watershed, and in some cases renders them almost worthless for the generation of future state school trust fund revenues.

The U.S. Forest Service continues to operate on a destructive path directed by the last administration in Washington, D.C., with Gov. Mark Dayton’s concurrence. It is clear the federal government’s action in this case has no respect or empathy for the generations of people that live and work in Northeast Minnesota and provide the important mineral resources that our nation depends on. This action represents a threat to all future mineral exploration and mining operations within Minnesota.

It is baffling why the U.S. Forest Service believes it should defy the long-standing, multi-use management approach on federal lands that includes, mineral development, forestry and recreational opportunities. This off-limits approach for over one-quarter of a million acres of land in Northeast Minnesota is a direct threat to the long-term economic health of an entire region of Minnesota.

Minnesota has a long history of managing mining, forestry and outdoor recreational opportunities alongside each other in an environmentally responsible way.

The U.S. Forest Service is accepting public comments on its withdrawal proposal at a public hearing from 5 to 7:30 p.m. July 25 at the Virginia High School Auditorium. If you are unable to attend, comments also may be emailed to comments-eastern-superior@fs.fed.us.
