Does anyone know of any dealers/repair shops in Bismarck that stock Johnson or Evinrude parts? Also, how do you go about gettings a NDA sticker? Thanks.

you'll have a hard time finding parts for those motors in Bismarck area I'd bet. you can get all of them online within three days easily. Just google Evininrude OEM parts online or something to that affect.

If you are buying a boat motor part and it only costs $8, quit yer bitching about shipping.

Can't remember the last time I bought something for a boat that only cost $8. And it's not like you are money ahead driving very far, I live near Lincoln and I'd spend $8 in fuel (almost) getting to Moritz.

lately it appears the parts dealers are also ordering many "common" parts rather than stocking them - which is why a guy relies on local parts dealers... you need it today

if I'm waiting 2-3 days for a part, why am I bothering with the local shop?

it's inevitable that this results in less local sales and less local store traffic... the brick/mortar extinction era

and you can generally get the parts on amazon and if your amazon prime most things are free shipping. I even order dog food on amazon lol.

I understand what you are saying but I have had good luck finding parts for my Honda kicker at Moritz. I have just never understood why no one in Bis/Mandan carries the Johnson/Evinrude brands. Like I said in an earlier post, I can order the part and pay $17. Frustrating when it probably costs less than a dollar to manufacture the damn thing. I might just try to make a Bush Repair on what I have.

I needed a water intake screen for a 1970 6 HP Johnson that my dad and I purchased new but hasn't been maintained or run in probably 25 years or more. I replaced the seals and water pump but discovered that the screen was full of old dried up gear lube and dirt so I pretty much beat the hell out of it getting it out. Today I straightened it out and reinstalled it so all is well. Had I realized how dirty it was, I would have ordered one along with the $100 plus of other parts that I ordered on line and would not have had any additional shipping cost.

I want to give this outboard to my son-in-law for his duck boat and who is a blue plater and loves to come to ND to hunt the roosts. Oh oh, what did I just say? Not to worry....he is too busy raising a family to get this far any more...mainly hunts around St. Cloud or SD.

nobody in western ND really deal in Johnson/Evinrude anymore. Here's why. Quite a number of years back now, manufacturers started doing exlusive's with motor companies. Merc/Yamaha pretty much sewed the industry up. This was all started when Brunswick owned Merc and about a dozen boat mfg's. The motor companies are basically buying transoms to hang motors on. Used to be a dealer bout the boat from the boat mfg'r and the motor from whoever they wanted to be a dealer for. Then they rigged the boats/motors themselves. Now it comes from the mfg with motor the mfg supplies. This is in about 95% of the cases. Some boat companies don't participate in these things or have been able to secure these deals. There are a few dealers that will still order a boat with no rigging/motor and hang what you want or what they sell for you. Same thing happened in the over the road truck industry.
