Just came from the confluence area and as about an hour ago, 110 fish had been weighed with 105 the biggest. Saw several in the 70 -80# range. Camping spots are tight and few. V, this should probably be in the fishing reports and you can move it. I tried posting a couple of reports last week and they never showed up so I'm doing it wrong,

110 today alone? Scenic Sports Facebook had total fish count at 177 an hour ago. Yesterday they reported 144, so 33 caught today. I'm soooo confused on who is reporting what or who to follow. ;:;banghead I wonder if the normal weekend crowd is there now so maybe just an average amount there this weekend. It is supposed to be HOT. Did that one year over in MT when it was 95°.....couldn't sling much during the heat of the day. Just morning and evening...with a good nap in the middle.

That's what I saw on the board. Could have misread it possibly. I'm old.

Most common mistake is not checking the checkbox below for what body of water/area you were fishing.

I would say it is BS that NDGF is calling the season already this morning. They are basing this on the proportion of females caught so far this year and it is important to sustain the population. Really......are you friggin kidding me??? How do you have some many miles of river and the thought that many fish make it through, which have thousands, if not millions of eggs. What do they have as data of mortality rate? Back in the day you hear stories of people who use to catch several fish and from a boat, none the less. I think that for how fast the fish are being CAUGHT FROM SHORE, even with higher water that there is a healthy population out there that is being sustained.

G&F Just sent out a press release: Paddlefish season will close May 8, and both May 7 and 8 are snag-and-release only. So your chance to snag-and-keep is going quick!

They close the season officially Monday on snag and release, which allows anglers to snag and release 4 more days after that, which is the 12th. It will be interesting to see what the hell Montana does. How do you call a season with only 25% of quota in so far? Why not wait and see what today and tomorrow brings? They get do the 24 hour notice then. DOES NDGF NOT GET IT???? So, so frustrating!

Somebody better go knock on kdm and Kickemup's camper and let them know in case they want to snag one . They probably haven't been outside since they got there ;)

KDM and myself are doing great he caught 3 yesterday and got about a 75lb this morning. I got 5 yesterday and haven't caught my keeper yet. If people don't like the way the season is run come the first weekend like the rest of us and don't bitch about it over the internet.

Wow...I think all this has to do with letting them offer the cleaning, and because they are seeing so many females, they getting all excited and shut the season down so early...smh...I think there's ALOT of paddlefish in this river, more than they realize smh...it just happens to be the peak movement and everyone is catching them so easily.....

So what set up should I used for weight and a big hook? I have a 9' catfish pole with a reel with 80# powerpro.

Does a guy need a tag for snag and release?
