No smoke and mirrors in my opinion to keep it local, I said right off the bat that my commissioners are doing a good job. Why would I want to get rid of something that has a proven track record ?

i don’t want to cover other peoples tax liability - yet it’s ok for others to cover mine because I’m entitled
keep tax collection at the local level, except for me - I don’t pay my portion - homestead act

Just come out and tell me what I have over you with my property taxes . What part don't you understand that we both are covered by the same homestead act ?

And for what it's worth , I said nothing of the sorts. That is what you said I said.

The more I dive into this site the more I think the Democrat ideology is also prevalent among Republicans. Not aimed at anyone , just an observance.

I'm ok with it because It's the way the the tax laws are written and I'm doing nothing wrong by taking advantage of a tax cut after paying my dues until age 65 . You would do the same thing if you were in my shoes.
But but but it’s not my problem you are old and shit….. I don’t want any part of paying for your old ass. Stop being old and pay your taxes……. If you can’t see the hypocrisy by now 🥴

You are young and able and we are old and frail. Be careful what you wish for because it happens in a flash.

Unfortunately I’m not young and able anymore either…… and I’m not old enough to get free money either. Where does that leave me?….. subsidizing exemptions is where it leaves me…..

Lincoln, kinda...
..,., this whole idea is nothing more than redistribution of wealth ...

Absolutely, it is right in Section 1, subsection 3. The State will have to pay the local governments no less than what it was receiving in property taxes.

That means those of us who currently live in a lower tax area are going to be on the hook for helping those who live in higher taxed areas for the services they currently receive. That section is very explicit in that the monies will come from the State's tax base, and will be distributed according to current property tax rates. Those of us who live in lower property tax areas will be paying more than we currently do while receiving no greater services.

Effing liberals!

are you claiming we are liberal for wanting reduced taxes for EVERYONE not just a SELECT GROUP OR GROUPS? Your mindset on this topic is on the liberal side and falls into the same group that wants their student loans forgiven while that burden falls on other taxpayers.

Now that we got the kamala tax proposal discussed which will never happen just like the other democrats tax proposal that never happened in the Biden administration.

Trump tax proposal is thar we get rid of income taxes and increase import taxes on good that are flooding our market from countries that some American businesses located to after the import taxes were lowered and union wages increased. Trump has also proposed that industry that moves back to the United States will get lower tax incentives which will bring jobs back to the states, I believe this will also help restrict those who are being subsidized by the government for living.

I don't like the idea of abolishing property taxes since in reality it's a matter of personal preference either by one's own doing or by family inheritance to own this land. Property taxes has always been part of the American people way before the government went after our income taxes which is where tax burdens need to be lowered.

Republicans have always been the party that has asked our middle class citizens to pay less in one way or another while the democrats have asked for middle class to pay more that's a fact which is the reason why democrats are willing to take away for the middle class to give to those who refuse to work.
So I like trumps proposal which is what our country used to be self reliant which is why he is make America great again.

Wanting taxes eliminated isn’t liberal. Wanting them eliminated because it’s a tax on an unrealized gain isn’t liberal. Wanting them eliminated in the most fair manner for the most citizens possible, particularly the middle class isn’t liberal.

Wanting to keep your exemption while not wanting to “pay for someone else” or accepting deductions but wanting others to foot the bill is by definition socialism. Wanting to make others pay but not you because “I did my time now it’s your turn” is entitlement.

I’m for getting rid of a tax. Any and all taxes for that matter. Americans are over taxed. Especially the middle class. But if we must keep it then it needs to based off of a set fixed rate without the local governments ability to continually notch the price up yearly.

To everyone that says they will "need" to make up the money elsewhere. Thats where you are missing the whole point.

This is a distribution problem. They state is sitting on tens of BILLIONS of dollars and growing, they are hoarding it, while our taxes go up. They dont need to "find it elsewhere", significant tax relief can already be paid for with money SITTING IN THE BANK. A decent accountant could figure out a way to cut property taxes in half with state funds and a more balance budget.

They dont need to tax us equivelant somewhere else. They are sitting on tens of billions already. They are OVERTAXING and they dont care.

Status quo is bend over and keep paying more every year. I am voting yes to force change of the distribution. Spend some of that moldy ass money sitting in the bank and stop gouging every property owner in the state for more.

Are you trying to say that I get or have gotten a "better deal" than you on my property taxes or what ?
