There is nothing worse than a thief! Apparently somebody needed my 6x10 ATV trailer more than I do. Little to no chance of finding it, and it sounds like insurance companies don't consider trailers to be personal property that's covered under your homeowners insurance. I guess you're supposed to add them to your auto policy like you would a car.

Lock those trailers up, and check with your insurance company to confirm that they are covered. There have been a lot of boats, trailers, and motorcycles stolen in the Bismarck/Mandan area in the last week.

I shared a thread on Facebook from this Friday. Someone in our neighborhood (near Sunrise Elementary) had their glastron boat stolen from their driveway on Thursday night/Friday morning. That's just sad...

This has been a big problem down there for a few years now, It would be so easy for PD to set up a sting operation and catch them but there must be a reason why they choose not to.

I'll be using coupler locks going forward. The bolt cutter made short work of my padlock. Are there any other locks that work well to prevent trailer theft? I suppose a tire boot would be the only thing that would keep it from going anywhere.

influx of roofers, many more than likely illegal. ..... suddenly shit starts getting stolen in areas where roofers have been..... im not dick tracey but thats quite a coincidence. im making sure the guys roofing my house know i know how to use a gun and i will let them think im a little fkn crazy as well....

the round anti theft trailer locks work better in the fact that you would need to grind both sides to get the lock off which is noisy, however these buttholes have figured out its easier to grind he top latch off instead. weve had two of our job trailers brokeb into this month that way.

Does anyone know or can steer me to legal advise regarding shooting persons on your property?

Yep standard padlocks are pretty much worthless. If they have enough time nothing will really stop them. The key is to keep stuff inside if possible. If not ,motion lights and several locking deterrents are your best bet. Unfortunately its frowned upon to use deadly force to protect property!

Also, even in your garage. Rethink having any windows in your garage doors, and cover your other windows with blinds. If they can see whats in there to steal they can also see when your not home and know they are in the clear. Not hard to kick in side doors.

Where the hell do they get rid of this stuff? Is there that good of a network to ship it all out far enough so no one would notice. I'd make a shitty thief I guess, I'd have no idea how to turn things into cash. Sounds like way too much work anyway. I do think though that all the buy/sell sites on FB and elsewhere are kind of an open invitation to steal. Bunch of pieces of shit.

read your homeowners policy. the part about coverage for personal property. If it doesn't exempt something like your trailer, make a call to the Insurance Commissioner and tell them that. If it was at your place of residence it will be pretty hard for them to get out of it if it isn't exempt in the policy.

Had my dodge Dakota stolen on July 23, I leave my keys in my center counsel I know I am dumb, they found my pickup on the reservation a week and a half later. The kid was a juvenile in possession of stolen guns but here's the kicker no one knows for sure who stoled my vehicle from my driveway. They have a suspect but no one has been arrested, at least that is what the local Ramsey County detective knows. The worst is the BIA, ATF, Ramsey and Benson County sherif. What a major cluster of a situation.

A guy would just love to catch the arses in the act, is about all I can say. In the meantime, some, most or all of the following might deter some of the riff raff from taking stuff..or make them think anyway. "Beware of Dog" posters, "Warning, Cameras on premises" posters, Motion lights, Trail cam strategically positioned, locks. Basically, give the dirt bags a reason to keep moving to an easier target.

The laws are on the thieves side that is for sure, Seems like PDs are too busy with other crimes so theft is paperwork without much thought into the crime. A city the size of Bismarck could pull a couple LEOs and put them in sting mode geared with cameras and some bait.
