That “upscale hunting experience” project grant in Medina pisses me off. Makes the Jamestown buffalo world park seem like a good idea.
Please enlighten me again on that! That was a huge "pat my back and I'll pat yours" undertaking if I remember correctly. I get quezzy thinking about it

While our viewpoints seem to be on the opposite end of the spectrum on a few different subjects i can say I couldn’t agree with you more on this.

“With a focus on attracting visitors and future workforce, the Governor’s Office and the North Dakota Department of Commerce today announced $25 million of matching grants to create new attractions in North Dakota communities, enable significant expansions of existing attractions and support key amenities aiding the tourism economy across the state.

Governor Burgum proposed $50 million for the Destination Development grant program in his executive budget recommendation for the 2023-25 biennium, and the Legislature approved $25 million in grant funding.

Expanding upscale hunting experience in the prairie pothole region near Medina

The Scott Moser Hunting and Fishing Lodge and Resort project is a full-service hunting lodge in the Medina area. The $500,000 award is 20% of the total project. Funds will be used for construction of the lodge, and guests will purchase complete hunting packages.”

I guess we’ll see. I’d also guess that if someone pitched a tent and cleaned up when they left, there’d be no issue. “Don’t start nothin, won’t be nothin”.
Thats exactly needs to happen.

Or

Rent the land out to sonebody that will run a campgound.

How do they loose money the state here makes bank on our state park campgrounds
Our park system, while awesome, isn’t turning a profit. User fees only cover 43% of the budget. Aside from other funds, we pay 9% of the parks budget from the general fund. It’s nowhere close to self sustaining, even with big use from May thru September.

In terms of the state taking them over, it was good and bad. The state had Indian Creek so they didn’t care about Jed’s. I personally think that campground is better than IC if ran by the state. I don’t stay there now lol.

The Omaha COE is pretty much a far-left liberal establishment. They were responsible for the massive 2011 Missouri river system flooding. Now they are playing politics with our camping facilities as to blame the Trump administration for budget cuts. Hopefully Trump can clean house in the CORPS and get rid of these far-left communists.

These fricken grants that our so-called leaders are handing out to their buddies is criminal. It's the ND residents money and they have no business giving it to their special interest buddies. Seems most of the ND legislators are self-serving. Democrats in Republican clothes! Sheep in wolves clothing! We need to clean house like SD just did in their legislature this past year!

That may be true ....now....but in the 90's the Busch administration fired 2 researchers about the water levels just 2 weeks after releasing findings of a TWO YEAR study. This may have changed how the CORP managed the system. IMO the heads of the CORP are/were just CORRUPT siding with the political power held by downstream states and continued draining the BIG 3 Reservoirs.

Celebrate people losing their jobs then bitch about no services. Big surprise
I do not understand the closures either. I thought these campgrounds should be self-sufficient. They spend tons of money running around lakes they control making sure that no rancher has all his fences up. Making no one is camping on Corp land. Making sure no one is driving on a shoreline.
They should take lessons from Mountrail County!

For the last 14 years the USCE has looking for a way to get even with ND residents mainly of Bismarck and Minot about how the Corp handled flooding in 2011. Ok, I will say it again those that handled the flow of water in the Missouri and Souris were supposedly engineers, I called them educated idiots. Trump and Musk didn't tell them where to cut back. I am sure that they could have a 100 other places to cut back, but no, cutting back on outdoor recreation will hurt ND the most.

Trump & Musk 100% did tell them who to fire. Temporary, probationary, and seasonal employees. AKA the ones who work at the campgrounds. This mindset that Trump can’t be blamed for anything or that he actually gives a shit about outdoorsmen is mind boggling.

Also; if you are upset about this, contact our 3 reps about getting them re-opened and see how much they actually care. It would be an easy win for them and the people of ND to get the 200k or whatever it is to staff the camps. But I can almost guarantee you’ll get a canned response stating that Trump is doing what he was elected to do.
