I have a friend who bought a new trolling motor and wants to sell his old one for $300. His email didn't say what brand it was but I'm pretty sure it's a Minnkota. the description he sent was '24 volt 72Lb thrust, with I pilot and remote and foot controls, Power Pak'. Don't know what 'Power Pak' is and couldn't find anything matching his description on Google. Anyone familiar with this unit and is the price fair. He's very particular and takes good care of his stuff so I think it's in good shape.

Might want to make sure he means Ipilot, and not auot-pilot. He is not asking enough if it is Ipilot imo.

What's the difference between auto-pilot, co-pilot and i-pilot?

auto-pilot
lets you pick a direction and the trolling motor will work to keep your boat going in that direction

co-pilot
is a remote control for your trolling motor, alternative to using the foot pedal

IPilot
The wireless remote that started fishing's GPS revolution: i-Pilot® delivers speed, steering, Spot-Lock, and the ability to record and retrace paths on the water. All at your fingertips, with fully automatic GPS accuracy.

What vollmer said. Auto pilot makes you get up from your seat to turn auto pilot on and off

Thanks Vollmer, I always wondered what the difference was. My old Minnkota has auto-pilot with a wireless remote foot pedal. Would that be considered auto-pilot and co-pilot or just auto-pilot? I've had the motor for two years and couldn't find a manual for it so I never tried the auto-pilot until last week. Boy was that slick! Sure beat trying to keep the boat on course while trying to fish.

Co-pilot is a small hand held remote. Allows control of steering and throttle. I believe yours was just auto pilot

just make sure of the shaft length

What length shaft should it be? I've never measured mine but it looks pretty long. I have a 1991 Lund Tyee 1650 and I think the shaft goes below the bottom of the boat. The motor is mounted on the front and my transducer is clamped to the motor. Last week I got into some very shallow water on the river and the motor pushed up in the bracket but we never got grounded on the sand bar. Saw a couple of guys with a monster 'Miami Vice' style boat try to cross the shallow spot I got across-they didn't make it. :)

The power pak reference may be Power Drive. When you buy the co pilot addition, you take the side off to install the co pilot side(s). Look for a composite shaft, the chrome ones are prone to bending and will be hard to steer but still work.

Got the details on the motor:

The Motor is 24 volt, Power drive, Auto pilot, SN is MKAE 308343. Another
number is TD-AP /US,74Lb thrust, 60" shaft. It also says CoPilot on it.
It has both remote and foot pedal controls.

Going to take a look at it in a couple days but if it's not all beat up it sounds like $300 is a decent price from what I can find out.
