Where does the small fish line stop. That isnt a problem across the border
Not sure but I think the natural reproduction in the river has been more than enough to supply the ND stretch of river/oahe. I think we have more of a forage problem up here, where I don’t think that’s an issue down there.

Me and everyone I fish with, never keeps under 14" unless its a bad hook or something that makes the fish not returnable to the water. We also never keep over 22-23", again unless it is effd up and not returnable.
God will make more fish, anyone who keeps bigger for the table, have at it, just not what anyone I know does.

Under 16" or over 21" go back. Got tape marks on my rods for quick measure.

Google ( Why does Lake Oahe have a 1 over 20 inch walleye size limit). Oahe has 3 main forage - Smelt, Emerald Shinners and Gizzard Shad. Sak mainly has 1 forage - Smelt and a few cisco. Do you think you would have a better chance at a 13 plus lb walleye in Lake Oahe/Missouri River or Sak? Point is that more Teener walleye are being caught in Oahe/MO river up to the Garrison dam than there are in Sak. Main reason I believe this is happening is that the SD F&G are actively managing the system for both a healthy fishery and big fish potential by instilling the 1 over 20" size restriction and adding different bait forage. I find it funny how our ND G&F is basically saying they keep fishing regulations simple so people don't get confused. That is just an excuse to save the dept. money so they don't have to spend more time checking peoples catches. I agree with what they say about the health of the fisheries in ND but it would be nice to have Sak managed to produce more teener sized walleye.
