I just realized that tomorrow will be the first time in about 17 years I didn't go out for opener. Crazy, the older I get the more I'd rather sleep in and treat my body like an amusement park.....
i cant believe you arent blind or severely cross-eyed yet. haha

How are some of you guys setting up today? It rained so much in my area that driving down a gravel road will make a hell of a mess let alone a field. Are some areas in the state not so wet? I did think of toting a mojo out into the field and give it a try but this fog doesn't help either to draw birds.

It feels strange sitting at home and not hunting opener but with soaked fields, fog, and rain I think I made a good choice?

We jumped a slough with no chokes in our barrels, then dropped an electric line in the water the fry any would be divers. Home by 9:30. Going to load up the boat and go catch my limit of 9-13 lb walleye for dinner. I won't be rinsing my well or checking for ANS. Think I'll vote 3rd party while I'm at it.

Good job Bed Wetter!! :;:thumbsup I like it when people poke the bear. :;:stirthepot Life is to short to worry about how other people do things. Unless what you\they are doing is illegal, last I heard jumping sloughs was legal, so have at it. :gotone: My guess is field hunting moves them to a different area as well. They are like dogs "They are smarter then you think they are"! ;:;boozer

buddy went out solo today since I was down and the other guys we hunt with were not on enough birds to get to excited about so he hit a small slough. Apparently he had to flashlight three separate groups for a LBD spot. He was hoping to limit quickly and his plan apparently worked since he was limited on his big ducks in three minutes. In all he got five widgeon and a mallard. All of his backup spots save one had two to three groups on them.

Quite a few dried up sloughs in central ND - I think that will make the remaining ones pretty hotly contested once the NR crowd is out. Insane amounts of soybeans as well.

Took a small group of LGBT out around Maxbass this morning. They said it was fabulous. They loved the opportunity to accessorize rugged clothing and became enamored with the 20ga. They enjoyed the "poof" of shooting cattails and what they called "the velvet shove" when the gun discharged. Nothing was killed. Mainly just a lot of drawings, paintings and shit. Some plan on a new tattoo. Got the dog groomed and had a delicious "naughty" meal at the Glenburn cafe. They seemed to have a fixation with the words "quaint" and "cafe". I believe they converted two regulars. They drank a lot of coffee and the humor on the ride back to base was reminiscent to a table at Studio 54.

No. They began an earnest discussion of incorporating earth tones into their daily appearance while fawning on the dog. I spotted a grouse perched in a dead tree and decided "eff it". By this time I was beginning to grow weary of all the shrieking and limp hand gestures. I decided I didn't want to answer questions about it's blood and poop areas.

We did well today. Quite well in fact. Even the game wardens were impressed. 4 wheeler and garden trailer were used to get in and out of the field to maintain good landowner relations.

What the hell is a walleye spawning bed?
Any of the shallow troughs on the river in the spring holding all the fatty's spawning, usually glitters as you drive by in the spring due to all the boats piled in on them
