See that's where the numbers go all wonky because they have 3 inches listed at 12:16 and .10 inches of water ....so that works out to 30 to 1 but if the 3.3 is right that means the snow flipped to the other side of the spectrum the last few hours with .3 inches of snow equaling .05 inches of water or a 6 to 1 ratio. So obviously there's some significant inaccuracies coming into play I just have no idea which way they're going.

Snow measurements, much like models, are useless unless you have multiple to compare and contrast between. I base my original post on this topic off of looking at many snow measurements in multiple areas during the course of winter. Looking at just one observation, regardless of the source, is just asking for trouble.

Speaking off are we getting much soak in during this cold spell or is it just waiting to roll once again. The sheet water near my place looks to not have moved but it may well have been able to freeze solid before it had much chance to soak in.

Speaking of something where there's a near complete dearth of data.

I'd say we are getting more than farmers/ranchers would admit, but less than they'd like. Overall, I like the prospects of seeing a lot more go into the ground. Soil temps are generally near freezing (not the 28 degrees they were six weeks ago) and that should really help given what looks to be a modest melt rate after Tues and Wed.

Intellicast now says no snow this weekend. Up until Sunday morning, they were predicting up to 15 inches.

I want to come home. Flight connects in Denver to Little Minneapolis Friday at noon.

Will I make it home? Need Storm Team NDA to advise... Over.

It appears to be a joke up in the northern tier. Down south might get fair amounts of white stuff.

Yeah the latest run slid it back north a touch and put you in the hart of it with a spread of 18 to 26. Bismarck is still out of it for the most part but only just so any wobble could put us fully into it or completely out.

Heard up to 3" of water equivalent in SC MN is possible...imagine if that shifted toward Wahpeton/Fargo...RRV would have to start getting nervous.

Big Minneapolis may have trouble but little Minneapolis should be fine this is primarily a sodak storm at this point.

As for 17F at 101 good God my oven has more humidity than that. What was the overnight low?
