Well, the time came that at 4 a.m. on June 3 when my very pregnant wife elbowed me in the ribs and told me to get up and call the hospital. She was dripping wet and gasping for breath. I was informed her contractions started at 3:30 and she hopped in the shower hoping they would abate.

Well, they didn't, and now they were coming 3-4 minutes apart. So I jingled the hospital to inform them of our impending arrival, and then called in the inlaws to being their 3-hour drive from the cities. Finally, I called my buddy to come over and house sit so my 2-year-old had someone there when he woke up.

It was now 4:30 and we were on the road. Wife's water broke en route.

Got to the hospital and the ladies in the birthing area were taking their sweet time. Finally got around to checking the little woman only to inform us, "oh, you're complete!"

No time for epidural. After a few rounds of contractions, kiddo No. 2 emerges at 5:43 -- little over 2 hours from the first signs she was ready to rock. Had I been a less intelligent man, I would have cleaned up and headed out for work! But, alas, I decided to take the rest of the day and following week off. A choice I am definitely not regretting.

So meet Lauren Caroline! She was 8 pounds, 7 ounces and 20.5 inches long. Kiddo No. 1 and both hounds are enamored with her. I'm sure that'll wear thin eventually, but for now she's new and fun and everyone loves her.

I think she's pretty cool, too.

Hey That's Great!! Congratulations!! How's Mama??

She's a trooper. Seems to be taking a bit longer to recover than the first go-around, but we're chalking that up to her not getting to "limber up" as much.

Postpartum hit her pretty good the first time, too. This time she's a lot happier.

Happy wife, happy life!

I think I was 9 when my 2nd brother was born en route to Bismarck hospital from Zap on highway 49 around 5am in the middle of january, My mom did the same thing as your wife and jumped in the shower her water must have broke in there and she didn't realize it. She told dad to get the kids and the car and lets go.
About ten miles south of Beulah he decided he was coming out, Dad delivered him on the side of the road, I was trying to flash people with the lights to get them to stop a couple people slowed down and seen a little kid in the driver seat and just kept going i suppose thinking the old man was taking a leak and this little asshole kid is playing with the lights. my other brother was in the back seat feeding my mom ice at age 7 finding out where baby's come from lol.
Then it was a 100mph ride to hazen in an 89 dodge caravan. We pulled up to the hospital and the nurses thought my dad was crazy they came out and looked then all ran back inside and got all the stuff to get mom and the kid in the hospital. luckily for him there were no other babies in hazen hospital so even though he was born on the road he had full run of the place and all the nurses and news peoples attention. Luckily everything turned out for the best and everyone was fine, dad bought a cell phone the next week. And her next kid she decided hazen hospital was way closer then going to Bismarck.

We have our #2 coming in just a few short days. Due date is July 12, but she's measuring and having some blood pressure issues, so is probably going to be coming early. Hope it all goes well for you DuckSlayer! I'll be in the same boat soon!

It's going better than expected! Honestly didn't know how No. 1 son would react, especially since he wanted a little brother named Carson.

But he seems smitten by his sis, and even though he'd still rather we named her Carson, he's got "baby Lauren" down pat.

You'll do great. God bless to mama, too. Hope she and baby are happy and healthy when the time comes!
