Not much snow but a lot of ice. Tree branches down or laying on power lines. My electric supplier has a lot of poles break. they have a wire broke at the end of my driveway but I still have power, don't know why or how that works. Took me half an hour to get the ice off the drivers door so I could get in my pickup, then let it warm up a nother half hour to get the ice off the windshield so I could see to drive. Most of the CRP is flat from the ice buildup, wildlife going to have it tough until we get some warm weather to melt this crap. LB

Sounds like NOAA is saying Bismarck got 17" officially at the airport, but said there are other accurate reports of up to 24" in the area. Just missed our "official" one day snow record of 17.3"

Sounds about right. Made a couple passes with the snowblower on my neighbor's driveway that hadn't been touched since the snow began and measured 17-18"

It will take our city until the end of next week to get to the residential streets.
Lived here 21 years now, and am still amazed at Fargo getting it off over night, and out west here its a 7-10 working day ordeal.
Not complaining of course...
I was way off, they actually had our street cleaned out in 36hours, fastest ever.
I believe we must have some new leadership, as it was way better this time.

Lincoln, kinda...
I took a snow sample and there was only 0.07 inches of moisture in it.
Out of a total depth of 11.5 inches? That seems to be really off as it's a 164 to 1 ratio. The wettest snow one can imagine is received in the 30+ degree range and is usually about a 10 to 1 ratio, while the light and fluffy stuff received when it's really cold out (-20 or more below zero) can be in the 25-35 inches of snow to an inch of water range. The little data I've seen on this most recent storm suggests most of it came in the range of 12-15 inches of snow per an inch of water equivalent.

That's what the NOAA equipment came up with.
