My mom's friend posted this on Facebook. It happened yesterday. I redacted names.

"Be polite, be professional, and have a plan to kill everyone you meet." -USMC

I really struggled about sharing this incident on Facebook, but tonight felt compelled to do so.
My granddaughter was nearly abducted today while we were sitting in a waiting room at St Alexius hospital...in clear daylight...and in front of several witnesses.
I am still reeling from this incident and in utter disbelief that this could happen here in Bismarck. My nephew was sitting next to me while my brother was registering for an appointment.
I was playing with **** when the lady sitting on the other side of my nephew stood up and took ****'s hand & started walking away from me. She was as normal looking as any young woman in her mid 30s.
I got up and tried to take **** away, but the lady grabbed her to her chest & kept walking away shouting that I was trying to steal her baby.
I asked the person at the desk to call security while I was grabbing ahold of ***** in an attempt to break the lady's hold on her. She kept yelling that I was trying to steal her baby.
People were looking at us, but no one offered to help...no one called for the police and my phone was in my purse back on my chair.
I finally tore **** from the lady and grabbed the lady by the arm and convinced a St Alexius employee that the baby was with me and to please call for help.
My nephew confirmed that **** was ours and a St Alexius employee finally called security. The lady was able to break away from me and exited the hospital. I ran after her and found security guards outside. I directed them to the lady. She was still claiming that I stole her baby.
Once police arrived, we were finally taken seriously. The lady was arrested, I was questioned 4 times. by 4 different people. When finished, the officer asked if I wanted to press charges???? REALLY!!!! Isn't child abduction a crime?
I was told the police have the hospital tapes, so the incident was recorded. At any rate, **** is doing well. I am not.
I cannot believe that people just sat there and did nothing while **** was reaching for me and crying for me to take her from this lady. I also cannot believe that a normal morning could turn in to my worst nightmare.
My family and I are so grateful we still have **** . However, I am so disappointed in the lack of concern & willingness of people to help when help is obviously needed.
Please hold on to your babies...no matter where you are. Do not rely on others to help...defend your right to use force if warranted...I had to.

Indoctrination army for Hillary's future? Who else would have the gall to do something like that smack in the middle of a public building (rhetorical question, of course)...

A 27-year-old Mandan woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly grabbing a 23-month-old at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.

Police, who responded to a call involving an attempted kidnapping at the hospital, reported that a grandmother had been in the hospital's waiting room with her granddaughter. They were sitting near the 27-year-old woman, who, when the child stepped away from the grandmother, grabbed the child's hand and said, "Come with me."

She walked into another room with the child. The grandmother followed and confronted the woman who picked up the child and said, "This is my child," according to police. The grandmother was able to get the child free.

Police arrived at CHI St. Alexius, where the woman was standing outside with hospital security. She allegedly gave officers a false name. Officers also said the woman had "exaggerated body movements" and was rambling incoherent statements, as though she may have been on meth.

The woman was arrested for attempted felonious restraint, drug paraphernalia, giving false information, a warrant with the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and ingestion of a controlled substance.

No formal charges have been filed.

I can't say what I would have done, had I been standing there and someone try to take off with one of my kids. I can't say it, for two reasons.

1) I'm not 100% sure, since it's never crossed my mind, and:

2) If I'm ever questioned for a murder, this post might come back to haunt me.

Let's just let it suffice to say that no matter if I had help or not, if someone was acting erratically or not, blood would have been shed.

Perhaps even more importantly, in this case, I'm very very happy that all ended well for this woman, and the little tyke.

I can't say that I know how I'd react. Tough for everyone in that situation as they likely didn't know who the child belonged to and which adult was telling the truth. However, I'm glad things turned out the way they're supposed to.

Glad that neither kiddo or grandma got any physical damage.

Hopefully the kidnapper ends up somewhere that she's not able to do anything like that anymore, ever.

Isn't that the liberals main talking point the last several years now? children do not belong to parents anymore they belong to the community.

Pretty simple in my mind, get the kid away from the lady that had her, and you can see whom the child goes to. Kids don't lie in a situation like that. I would hope more people share this idea....Glad all is good, reassure the kiddo that you will always be there like you were that day.

Somebody at St A's needs a boot up their a$$.
For what....not doing a background check on every person who walks in? Have a wacked out tweaker here and that's not something they are equipped to deal with over the entirety all the multiple waiting areas in that building. Vigilance by the adults is the only real safeguard this and grandmother seems to have done a pretty good job of it.

No, calling security regardless. Then let them figure out the situation. At least they would have stopped the situation from escalating.

I agree with Dirty, when she asked that someone call security, it should have been done without hesitation.

Yeah and I would agree if it took minutes but her account gives no timeline. If this happend in a matter of 30 seconds figuring out what was going on and knowing its not just some family drama is difficult. Seen it twice well at the hospital where two members or more of the same family get in a dispute over the care of a kid and it's a confused situation and hard to grasp what's going on for a minute. If they sat there watching and doing nothing for an extended period of time there will be hell to pay but I for one have never seen hospital staff reluctant to call security it normally works the other direction where they're a little too quick to call but they are very big on covering their own ass. The fact that absolutely no one did anything makes me think this all went down fairly fast with much confusion.

An effing hospital, shopping mall, post office, bar, courthouse or church are your most dangerous places to be besides the road IMO. I believe "hospital" caught "road" long ago.

I can also say exactly what I would have done - whatever it took to get the child back before she exited the building. If it meant violence, then that's what I would have done without batting an eye. Knowing it was my child and that I didn't know this person, it would have been pretty easy to sort it out after the fact. Pretty sure I could more easily mend the "wound" of my child seeing me do whatever it takes to keep her than the "wounds" resulting from her disappearing. So glad this turned out alright. Parent's worst nightmare.

Un-f'ing-believable. What is wrong with people in this world.

Been to your local ER around midnight lately? Pretty accurate but sad story of what actually takes place in your city and who lives there.

Yeah, no. If I see two people struggling over a child and one of them says "call security," I'm calling security.

Dumb.
